Job Responsibility:

Victrex is seeking an experienced and proactive SHE Advisor to join our dynamic team. As a SHE Advisor, you will play a fundamental role implementing our health, safety, and environmental (HSE) strategies across the company. This position requires someone who can provide expert advice, support on SHE matters, and lead by example to promote a positive health and safety culture.

This role will provide global SHE support across all our locations ranging from the UK, USA, Europe and APAC regions. Travel will be required within the UK and you will be based at our Hillhouse facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide site level SHE support services (professional knowledge, guidance, advice and expertise) for SHE related matters, to department/area managers, supervisors and front-line employees, working collaboratively to drive the safety culture.
  • Attend facility daily meetings (and others as may be appropriate) to promote SHE matters and ensure there is visible SHE presence by carrying out engagement tours across the site.
  • Act as influential leader to embed the intervention culture of the plant and coach peers on value added safety interventions.
  • Establish a SHE self-assessment audit program, ensuring they are completed on time by all assigned persons.
  • Support site safety reviews, inspections, audits and accident and incident investigations (where specialist SHE skills are required).
  • Develop and implement SHE programs, systems and procedures in order to secure compliance with Victrex SHE standards and requirements, and both current and impending legislation.
  • Support the site to be able to carry out their own risk assessments and draft procedures by providing advice and guidance through coaching and mentoring methods.
  • Drive SHE improvement through the development and regular review of a SHE improvement plans.
  • Carry out trend analysis on SHE data submitted and establish focused actions to drive improvement in those areas identified.
  • Carry out regular reviews on SHE action management to ensure action closure is timely, escalating any overdues and issues to the Plant Manager.
  • To support the identification, development and delivery of EHS training needs.
  • Identify PPE requirements and establish an approved list of PPE to reduce and mitigate risks associated with the facility.
  • Engagement with stakeholders and regulatory authorities (for example HSE, EA, Emergency services).
  • Carry out all regulatory reporting requirements for the site of an EHS nature, ensuring compliance to any reporting conditions of permits.
  • Responsible for ensuring the site has assessed and made arrangements for dealing with any type of emergency scenario that may be applicable to the facility.

Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has strong experience in SHE within high hazardous environment/industries. With an excellent understanding of UK and OSHA safety regulations and legislation. You must have a proven track record of successfully identifying and working within KPI's, experience and knowledge of coordinating independent investigations and be a subject matter expert in risk assessment methodologies.

You will have good communication skills both written, verbal and presentation, with an ability to influence others on driving a SHE culture and to work autonomously to drive and deliver business outcomes. Good coaching and mentoring skills to advise and empower stakeholders is crucial for this role.

Our successful candidate will have a diploma level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent and also hold a NEBOSH Environmental qualification or equivalent. An IOSH membership, minimum TECH IOSH or equivalent/or working towards this would be advantageous.
