We are currently looking for a Transport Account Manager (maternity cover) to join our friendly team at Tarmac. This is an office based highly skilled account manager role operating and achieving commercial success through telephony, email, teams including travel and face to face visits on an adhoc basis across the region. This role has the opportunity to be based anywhere in the North of England so if you are located in Chester-le-Street, Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne, Hartlepool, Darlington, Leeds, Liverpool, Hull, Sheffield or the surrounding areas this could be the role for you.

Role Responsibility

The Transport Account Manager will report directly to the Senior Logistics Manager, the suitable candidate for this role will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the division has a fleet of appropriate vehicles which meet the business operational and logistical requirements

  • Identifying and implement working methods, models and practices to optimise fleet management, and allows measurement of financial and environmental impact of those services

  • Managing the advice and controls to ensure the area is legally compliant to provide continuous and effective control of area transport operations, as per license requirements, Working Time Directive and any other appropriate legislation or regulations for all businesses

  • Supporting Tarmac's budget structure to ensure all fleet is appropriately maintained and invested

  • To Drive performance through national and regional logistics KPI's

  • Manage fleet size and vehicle type to best satisfy optimalisation demands, in the short to medium term in line with Anaplan forecast and provide overall benefit to Tarmac

  • Taking responsibility for the transport teams including monitoring, reviewing and analysing all drivers' hours for compliance with EU driver rules and regulations

  • Identifying and implement Transport Safety Improvement Plans, working with local teams to reduce costs and increase utilisation

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in the role of Transport Account Manager the ideal candidate for the role will have experience of working in a similar role and environment as well as, not exhaustive:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of transport regulations regarding ‘O' Licence, Driver Hours, Construction and Use Regulations

  • Lead, develop and inspire people in your wider organisation to cultivate high performing, competent teams.

  • Have a strong ability to deliver excellent performance and influence internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive results will be fully utilised in this role

  • You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Qualifications

  • Desirable - Transport Manager CPC

  • Desirable - IOSH Managing Safely

Knowledge

  • Transport Management (EU & GB Domestic Rules)
