Job Responsibility:

Business Services Assistant - Strategic Intent / Business Services

2 x Full time (37 hours) permanent post, within the Business Services Team

1 x Full time (37 hours) fixed term post (maternity cover), within the Strategic Intent Team

The Strategic Intent and Business Services Team, within the Public Health department provides cross-cutting administrative support to a range of initiatives and teams.

If so, we are looking for you! This is an opportunity to make a very valued and important contribution to Derbyshire County Council's Public Health department.

The roles are varied and fast-paced and the ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines is essential.

You will be able to demonstrate a wide range of Business Services support skills and coordinate a range of key tasks which links to business planning, programme support, performance and transformational activities. You will work as part of our team to support day-to-day functions along with supporting strategic functions of the public health department.

Please note, these positions do not currently require supervision of a team or the delegation of tasks.

Some examples of what you will need to do in this role:

  • Support teams and senior members of the public health department including administering meetings, supporting action logs and risk registers.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Financial tasks including raising purchase orders and processing invoices whilst strictly adhering to the council's financial regulations
  • Working to support the development of hybrid and matrix working across Public Health
  • Maintaining and improving operational efficiency and quality of service of own area through improvements in procedures / processes
  • Recognising the impact of issues and use judgement to raise concerns or complex issues with managers
  • Understanding of how the activities of the department relate to one another
  • Producing documents for audit and assurance purposes to evidence work of the department

We are looking for individuals with:

  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • An ability to interpret and analyse data
  • An ability to work within organisational policies and procedures
  • A proactive approach to change
  • An understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and Data Protection
  • An ability to work as part of a team undertaking a wide range of administrative duties
  • Previous financial experience
  • Enthusiasm and transferable skills

These roles require working across different Public Health functions and high-profile pieces of work and teams. A passion for public health would be beneficial to support our vision and ambition in Derbyshire.

You will be expected to travel to County Hall, Matlock and other areas of the County when required as part of a hybrid working approach.
