Catering Supervisor King Richard III Visitor Centre

Job description

Part Time / 30 Hours Per Week / Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative Catering Supervisor to lead the award-winning White Boar Café. Based in the multi-award-winning King Richard III Visitor Centre, as it celebrates the tenth anniversary of the rediscovery, identification, and reinternment of Richard III, one of the most incredible archaeological stories ever told.

This is a part-time, permanent post working 30 hours a week. You'll be able to work flexibly to accommodate business needs, which will include some evenings, weekends, and Bank Holiday working. The King Richard III Visitor Centre and White Boar Café is open to the public every day except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, New Years Day, and twelve days in January for essential maintenance.

What you'll be doing

You'll be managing a team of five part time catering assistants, and are responsible for the overall health & safety, hygiene, and stock management within the café. You'll be responsible for creating and developing the café menu and ensuring all activities and budgets in the café are managed effectively and efficiently. You'll ensure your team are providing excellent customer service and refreshments to our visitors, which include tour groups, private bookings, and corporate events, with additional catering support provided for large and/or formal events.

What you'll need

With a proven track record of achieving results and service improvements in a catering role, you'll have a Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2. You'll be able to deal with people professionally at all levels and from a variety of backgrounds and to involve their team in creating a shared purpose to help them develop and achieve results. You'll consistently review and improve performance, reflect seasonal and on trend ingredients in the menu, utilise local produce and regional providers where possible, while maximising the average spend per head and the overall profitability of the White Boar Café.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from several flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
