As a key member of the Commercial Analytics team, the Price Analytics Manager is responsible for developing, improving and communicating a portfolio of tools & reports which enable a deep understanding of our price competitiveness relative to the rest of the market and understanding the ROI and benefits of price investment campaigns and promotions. You'll have the unique opportunity to apply your analyses across both Argos and Sainsbury's.

We want you to have a point of view, combining commercial insight, curiosity, and an understanding of our business to provide recommendations and identify opportunities for improvement.

You'll have the chance to work with a modern and powerful tech stack of Snowflake, Alteryx, R, Python and Microstrategy, while working with a team of talented colleagues driving impact at the heart of our commercial division.

More about the role:

  • Lead the development of new ETL processes, statistical analyses, machine learning models and dashboards which aid and support strategic commercial decision making
  • Be creative in leveraging new data sets and creating new sources of insight to help solve our toughest commercial problems and make tangible recommendations to the business
  • Take ownership for your projects, providing structure, clarity and regular proactive updates to the relevant stakeholders and leadership teams, including potential risks and proposed mitigation actions to avoid roadblocks
  • Lead on ad-hoc and deep-dive analyses within cross-functional teams
  • Manage a portfolio of regular and ad-hoc reports, automating data access and report production as much as possible
  • Streamline your team's workload by eliminating reports which are no longer used, mitigating the impact on stakeholders
  • Ensure colleagues are high performing, fully engaged, and work effectively together
  • Consistently be at the forefront of improving our team capabilities, ways of working, knowledge sharing and tools for the job

More About you:

  • Strategic thinking, utilising a hypothesis-led approach to break down complex commercial issues
  • Experience in landing complex project work to budget and at pace in an Agile environment
  • Ability to design and interpret KPIs, frameworks and dashboards to identify opportunities and guide action
  • Knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques, their use-cases, trade-offs, pitfalls and development process
  • Essential: SQL and either R or Python
  • Desirable: Tableau, Alteryx, Microstrategy, Power BI
  • Understanding of databases and how to efficiently query information
  • Experience of long-term, collaborative engagement with stakeholders from different parts of the business and levels of seniority
  • Able to communicate commercial opportunities and analytical approaches to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to coach and develop direct reports along a technical career path
