HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC's worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC's clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.
We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management (AM) Active Equities business. You will be part of the Thematic Equities franchise that is responsible for several global thematic equities investment strategies globally, these range from climate-related, technology, healthcare and resources aligned themes.
The Senior Investment Specialist role is a Director level position. You will be responsible for shaping and growing the internal and external visibility and perception of our Thematic Equities investment capabilities. You will also substantially contribute to the asset related growth of this capability and contribute to drive the global thematic equities projects and campaigns.

In this role you will:
- Fully leverage and optimise existing investment networks, channels and tools to increase awareness and visibility of thematic equities as well as shape and develop new and differentiated investment content.
- Compile and provide regular Active Equity market insights to internal stakeholders and senior leaders and actively participate in strategy meetings to build up in-depth investment portfolio insight.
- Fully support and collaborate with our thematic equity portfolio managers to shape a compelling investment offering whilst contributing as a thought leader in thematic conversations and investment strategies.
- Develop a strong narrative for your investment strategies in collaboration with the investment managers and provide effective and transparent communication with our sales teams and other vital internal stakeholders.
- Engage with a wide range of people and cultures as befits a global role and be prepared to travel internationally as and when required.
Requirements
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrate a successful career path in equity investment management, equity research or investment specialist role, your experience levels should be aligned to that of Director level.
- Exposure to Thematic investing topics and with knowledge of sustainability frameworks and standards
- Possess very strong interpersonal skills that engenders a ‘Trusted Advisor' status within a varied stakeholder group often at senior C-suite level leadership.
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse, interpret and distil complex and varied data into easily digestible content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with evidence of owning or contributing to commercial thought leadership papers.
- Shows empathy and is adept in navigating sensitive issues that may involve engaging with people from different geographic regions and cultures.
- Having a professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or similar qualification, such as a CPA would be beneficial.
This role is based on a hybrid working pattern at HSBC Offices in Canada Square, London and your home - you should be able to work in London on a weekly basis. There will be occasional international travel.
