Job Responsibility:
We have a new entry level opportunity for a Tax and Trust Assistant to join our established Trusts and Estates team - working from either our Cardiff or Southampton office. The role will ideally suit someone interested in starting a career within a specialist Finance or Accountancy discipline, and we are open to receiving applications from school leavers or those considering a career change.
Aptitude and a genuine interest in building a career in Tax and Trusts is more important than specific experience, but all applicants must hold the minimum of an A level (or equivalent) in maths or another numerical discipline. Given that this is an entry level role, there will be a requirement to be based from the office for a minimum of 4 days per week, but we're open to considering applications from those who require some flexibility in hours. The successful applicant will have opportunities to progress their career through support for undertaking professional level qualifications.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
Working under the guidance of our team of Tax Technicians, Trust Advisors, Senior Associates and Partners your key duties will include:
- The coordination of and timely preparation of trust and estate accounts and tax returns
- Assisting with trust administration
- Supporting the Trust Advisor and Tax Technicians monitoring and planning for major events on trust and family matters
You will also have involvement in a broad range of other tasks which might include bank reconciliations, processing of outgoing electronic payments, preparation of Capital Gains Tax returns, preparation of personal tax returns, dealing with the day-to-day affairs of your client portfolio, ensuring that engagement letters and the correct due diligence is in place for clients, and that fees are agreed and billed accordingly.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an active interest in developing a career within a Finance or Accountancy discipline. To be considered applicants must be able to evidence the following:
- An affinity for numbers - holding the minimum of an A level or equivalent in a numerical discipline
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently to multiple audiences
- Attention to detail, to maintain high professional standards with a focus on quality and delivery
- The ability to follow processes and multi-task; This is a dynamic role, and you will be working on multiple clients at the same time
- The ability to ‘think outside the box' - to bring new fresh ideas to how we do what we do
- Strong written communication skills.
- Experience working in a team environment with the ability to integrate with new teams quickly whilst having the confidence to work independently
- Computer literacy - to include a good understanding of Excel and Microsoft Office Software. Training will be given for tax/accounting software
