At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Commercial Advisor at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.

The role As a Commercial Advisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock has started a series of major infrastructure projects at Devonport in Plymouth. Over the next 10 years Babcock will develop state of-the-art facilities to meet the evolving requirements of the UK's Royal Navy.

Day-to-day, you'll work with the commercial team to become an SME driving commercial excellence.

  • Drive commercial excellence across contracts and projects, to protect Babcock with regard to the acceptability of terms and conditions and to provide guidance, advice, diligence and instruction supporting the tendering, negotiating and placing of subcontracts.
  • Provide the project Head of Commercial with effective support in compilation of tender documentation, negotiation, commercial review, payment applications and subcontractor claim reviews.
  • Ensure contract administration is carried out iaw subcontract requirements and in line with Corporate Governance.
  • Become an SME, provide guidance across all contracts in their specialism.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Commercial Advisor

  • Knowledge of procurement and supply chain activities and commercial due diligence is essential.
  • Building and construction.
  • MOD contracting experience.
  • NEC 4 experience.

Qualifications for the Commercial Advisor

  • The Commercial Advisor should ideally be educated to HNC / HND level or equivalent in a subject related to business or law.
  • MCIPS / WCC or MCIOB or working towards - Desirable.
