Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, taxation, and financial reporting, with a focus on working within an accountancy practice. The Senior Accountant will provide support in managing a diverse client portfolio, prepare financial accounts and cover various aspects of taxation. The candidate will also assist in the mentoring and development of junior team members. The role provides an excellent opportunity for career progression.
Key responsibilities:
· Client Management:
- Provide support to our directors in the management of a portfolio of clients, including individuals, SMEs, and larger businesses across various sectors.
- Serve as a key point of contact for client queries, delivering excellent service and maintaining strong relationships.
· Financial Statements & Reporting:
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP, or other relevant accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and deadlines for annual filings and tax submissions.
· Taxation:
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and personal tax returns for clients.
- Provide partner support in tax advisory services, including tax planning, structuring, and compliance advice.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and advise clients accordingly.
· Management Accounts & Advisory:
- Lead on the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts, offering insights on performance and helping clients make informed decisions.
- Assist clients with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning.
- Provide business advisory services, including profitability analysis and strategic financial advice.
· Team Leadership & Development:
- Assist in the development of new and junior team members through supervision and mentoring, providing technical guidance to improve team performance.
- Review and oversee the work of junior staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with practice standards.
· Systems & Process Improvement:
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and systems to enhance efficiency and client service.
- Utilise accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and recommend technology improvements where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Education:
- Between final year and say 2-year PQE of ACA or ACCA (or equivalent). Qualified by experience candidates should also apply.
· Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in an accountancy practice, with exposure to dealing with a diverse client portfolio.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Proven ability to prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, management accounts, and tax returns.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior accountants.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
