Salary: £24,310- £25,183 per annum Grade: CD Contract: PermanentHours: 37 hours per weekLocation: Harrogate and Surrounding AreaWeekend Working: YesOur Service: We are looking to recruit a Parks and Grounds Support Assistant to support across a variety of services throughout the commercial services team, within Parks and Grounds. The post holder will assist with the daily running and operations of the games in parks/kiosks/nursery facilities across the Council as well as supporting the delivery of the events and markets. They will reply to customer queries and requests, support with service resilience and provide financial support to the team with raising of POs and invoices for the service areas. The Role: To support the commercial team and being able to travel to different locations to deliver customer facing roles - from kiosks, markets delivery, supporting with events and stewarding, and providing resilience when staff are off. The post holder would be required to support across the whole district, this may mean working outside in all weathers. The post holder will be conversing with members of the public and businesses daily. You will be:
  • Supporting the markets operations, providing resilience if the markets officers are off (currently have 7 markets across the district)- this will mean working with the traders and members of the public to ensure the market is run smoothly and safely.
  • Taking payments, completing refunds, and be the first port of call for the customers when on site. They would need to have an understanding of how the markets run as they will be doing the role of market officer IF the market officer is off. Including ensuring the market plans have been adhered to.
  • Stewarding at events in parks and open spaces - this is on an adhoc basis. Support the events officer with administrative work as well as stewarding. Stewarding would be when the events are on so up to 5 times a year.
  • Providing customer service within Parks, including games, refreshments kiosks and paddling pools which includes manning the kiosks / tills, taking payments, and dealing with customer queries. This is on an ad hoc basis to cover staff absence or leave.
  • You will support with financial systems by raising purchase orders and invoices.
  • Operating till systems in line with Council processes and procedures.
  • Operational cover across all sites as required, from covering the market (as above) to supporting with the events. Events support includes financial support, attending events to ensure that they are set appropriately and stewarding events the Games facilities.
Job role:
  • Manage the generic inbox of the Commercial team, responding to customer enquiries about all elements of commercial activity in Parks and Grounds open spaces.
  • Liaises with the Customer Service Unit, and colleagues within the Commercial Services Team, and wider Parks and Grounds Service around more complex queries in order to develop a response.
  • Ensures any invoices applicable to the running of the service are raised and the debt is managed following the council's financial policy.
  • When required, to cover services within Parks and markets the post holder will be responsible for cash handling and card payments.
What you will bring: To be successful you will have a proven track record of great customer service. Have an understanding of commercial services and be able to keep records of transactions. A good general education showing experience of literacy and numeracy skill. You should be able to demonstrate recent experience of working within a customer service role. You must be able to use a variety of IT systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office, word, excel, power point. As the role covers the district you will require a full driving license.
