START DATE 6thMay 2025

SALARY RANGE FTE 0.6 £17,433 - £21,187 depending on experience

The Holmewood School, part of the Cavendish Education family of schools, is a specialist independent day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 who have a primary diagnosis of autism. In May 2022, our school was recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted, and we are proud to have achieved Advanced Autism Accreditation from the National Autistic Society (NAS). Located across three campuses in North London (Woodside Park, Muswell Hill, and Finchley Central), the successful candidate will primarily be based at one of these campuses but will enjoy the opportunity to work across all campuses to best support the unique learning profiles of our students.

We are seeking a dynamic, flexible, and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist who is keen to develop their expertise in supporting neurodivergent children and young people within a neurodiversity affirming environment. You will become a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, working alongside SaLT, Occupational Therapy, and Psychotherapy professionals, and collaborating closely with our dedicated classroom staff and support staff. This role involves delivering integrated SaLT services to young people across all of our campuses.

As a family of schools, Cavendish Education benefits from close collaboration with other schools in the group and values our extensive community links. We believe in ‘thinking differently' and fostering a creative approach to our teaching and therapeutic practices. Our approach is education led, offering education supported by therapy, not care-with-education bolt ons.

The post holder will receive solution-focused clinical supervision from our experienced senior SaLT, who has a wealth of experience in both mainstream and specialist school settings, is a member of the London Autism Clinical Excellence Network Committee, and is trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. There will be exciting opportunities for joint working and collaboration on innovative projects.

You will be committed to providing the best opportunities for our students, ensuring every young person is supported to achieve their full potential. You will demonstrate a flexible approach to education and therapy, a willingness to engage in all aspects of school life, and the ability to work effectively under pressure with young people who may present with challenging behaviours. Previous experience of working with young people with autism in other educational settings is essential. Experience of working with young people with behaviour needs or social, emotional and mental health needs would also be desirable.

Essential criteria:

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Membership of RCSLT or equivalent body
  • Evidence of CPD in relevant areas of practice (for example Education, Autism, ADHD, Mental Health, Executive Function Skills)
  • At least one year's experience working in a relevant area

Closing date: Thursday 27th March

Interviews will be held at the Upper School campus in Muswell Hill on: Thursday 27th March
