We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Production Operator to join our Operations Team based at our site in Glenrothes and reporting to the site Plant Leaders. This role will be for approximately 6-months.

Position Summary:

To be individually responsible for the safe manufacture of product to specification. To monitor the production process, respond to abnormal or out of specification situations and relay problems beyond Operator's area of knowledge to appropriate persons.

Essential Functions:

Process:

  • To manufacture data cable to within specification following approved procedures.
  • To maintain high levels of output in line with manufacturing requirements.

Quality:

  • To preserve product quality through care and attention to detail in line with manufacturing standards and defined procedures.

Equipment/Workplace:

  • To maximise plant efficiency and look after equipment.
  • To maintain high standards of workplace organisation in line with Lean practices.

Safety, Health & Environment:

  • To be 100% compliant with site HSE standards and procedures and to be comfortable and confident in raising and discussing any issues with colleagues and at all levels of management.
  • To comply with all policies and procedures for the control and prevention of accidents.
  • To report any accident/incident, which has the potential to lead to a major accident.
  • Contribute process/plant knowledge and experience to Risk Assessments when required in order to maximise HSE performance.
  • Understand and follow all emergency procedures.

Compliance:

  • To be a highly disciplined Operator, fully compliant with all rules and procedures working to established quality standards.

Information:

  • To maintain good written standards and communicate well with colleagues and others in the business.

Additional Responsibilities:

Teamwork:

  • To work with and support Plant Leader and other members of the shift teams, to promote effective working practices.

Continuous Improvement:

  • To share a vision for our future and be receptive to the need to change and grow the business accepting a philosophy of continuous improvement in everything we do.
  • To complete training and development as required, maintaining current documentation for the area in which they are assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience:

Education

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • SVQ or equivalent in a manufacturing discipline (advantage).

Experience

  • Operating in a fast-paced environment to challenging deadlines.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Experience in Machine Operation.
  • Experience in Lean practices and techniques.
  • Shift working experience.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Excellent problem solver.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to prioritise, multitask whilst retaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Previous experience with Baan and CRM would be a distinct advantage
  • Self-motivated and flexible.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Fast paced office environment.
  • Manufacturing environment/ Shift Work.

This role requires the job holder to work shifts.

  • 12 hours per shift - Dayshift - 7am - 7pm/ Nightshift - 7pm - 7am
  • 3 week rotating shift basis as follows: -

Week 1 - Monday and Tuesday Dayshift/ Thursday and Friday Nightshift

Week 2 - Wednesday - Friday Dayshift

Week 3 - Monday - Wednesday Nightshift

Salary:

£24,490 + £4,898 shift allowance per annum.
