Sport Focused Youth Worker

Job Description

Role Title: Sport Focused Youth Worker

Salary: £12.50 p/hr

Responsible for: Delivering sport related youth work to children with additional needs aged 13-16 years.

Days: Every Friday evening 7:15pm - 9:15pm (session time 7:30pm-9pm) Term time only

Hours: 2 hours per session, Term time only

Role

This role is to work within our current team to deliver sport focused youth work for young people with additional needs, mainly, but not limited to ASD.

You will be required to run a range of sport type games and activities to our youth group, alongside our cureent small team of workers.

For this role you must have a genuine passion for working with children and young people.

You must have patience and an understanding of young people with additional needs.

You need to have the confidence and resilience to understand needs and build positive relations, gain trust, listen, and engage.

You need to be able to plan and adapt everything you do to meet different needs. Being able to take lead in some games and support in others.

Person Specification

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate:

Essential:

  • Understanding of the needs of young people who have additional needs and disabilities, their families and carers
  • Ability to work flexibly on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to use initiative in decision making and resolving problems
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Commitment to personal development
  • A commitment to working within organisational policies and procedures

Desirable:

  • Experience in youth work
  • Experience of working with young people who have additional needs and disabilities
  • Experience of providing guidance and information to young people who have additional needs and disability and their families

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.50-£13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 2 per week

Work Location: In person
