Job Description :

This is an exciting opportunity for the post holder as this is a new venture for Dollar Academy. Thus, the successful candidate will have scope to plan, design and implement Dollar’s wraparound care.

Reporting to the Head of the Prep and Junior School, the Wraparound Care Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of Dollar Academy’s Wraparound Care (WAC) provision. Wraparound Care at Dollar runs before and after the school day.

As the Registered Manager in line with Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) requirements, the post holder will lead a team of staff, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and stimulating environment for school-aged children.

This role combines staff management, direct childcare, planning, and administrative duties to deliver a nurturing and engaging experience for all children in attendance.

Job Description

Wraparound Care Provision

• Ensure a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment for children.
• Plan and deliver a variety of fun and educational activities each day, including collaborating with other school departments (where appropriate)
• Model high-quality interactions and support children’s development through play.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates and responding to concerns.
• Manage children’s individual care needs, including allergies and healthcare plans.

Team Leadership and Staff Management

• Lead and supervise a team of staff, ensuring high standards of care and safety.
• Support and mentor staff, including induction of new team members.
• Conduct regular team meetings and lead on quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide ongoing training, supervision, and performance management.
• Ensure efficient staff deployment and rota management.

Operational Management and Compliance

• Maintain and update individual care plans for children.
• Monitor practice and implement improvements to uphold high standards.
• Manage inspections and ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate and SSSC standards.
• Order resources, maintain inventory, and manage equipment.
• Promote and market the Wraparound Care service; manage enquiries and enrolments.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in childcare.
• Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised manager-level qualification (e.g. BA or PDA Level 9 in Childhood Practice) as required by the SSSC. The cost of which will be borne by the Academy
• Relevant transferable qualifications (e.g. qualified teacher, nurse, midwife) will also be considered.

Knowledge and Experience

• Experience working in a regulated childcare setting.
• Previous experience in managing or leading a team.
• Knowledge of relevant policies and legislation.
• A thorough understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with children, families, and staff.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £17.56 per hour
