The role: The role of Shift Lead (Operations) is multiskilled and varied. You will lead the Aether Duty Team (Operations) whilst interacting with our guests from kerb to gate and gate to kerb, including check-in, baggage, security, and chauffeuring duties, collaborating with stakeholders such as control authorities, to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, colleagues, and the public. Duties include:
- Manage the day-to-day Aether Security operation, ensuring the compliant and efficient movement of guests and baggage through the security access points and to and from aircraft in adherence with security and operating protocols.
- Manage resource to ensure an effective, efficient and compliant operation that meets all the conflicting needs of the business. Ensure that the short-term resource plan satisfies service and compliance requirements.
- Delivering exceptional customer service at every touchpoint. You will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Aether customer service standards, supporting the Aether operation to deliver Manchester Airport's most premium customer journey.
- Responsible for opening and closing Aether terminal and facilities.
- Undertake equipment checks and testing of operational areas and write duty logs and notices with agreed protocols.
- Respond to security breaches, incidents and emergencies, taking any necessary corrective action and following agreed reporting lines.
- Monitor compliance standards of Aether Hosts & Supervisors by way of compliance audits.
- Manage and maintain the Company's statutory responsibilities, such as Health & Safety requirements and Risk Assessments.
- Consistently apply MAG's policies and procedures, maintaining stable and positive employee relations.
- Ensure you and the Duty Team remain compliant with all legislated elements of your role
- Assist with the recruitment, selection and training of Aether colleagues and ensure they receive comprehensive, ongoing training and development to enable them to undertake their duties and responsibilities in a professional manner to the standards required by the Company.
- Act as first line representative of Aether management in the absence of the General Manager
- Carry out ad-hoc projects relating to Aether as directed.
You may also be required to carry out some of the duties of your Team (where required). A full job description is available on request and will be issued prior to interview. Roster Mix of early and late shifts - earliest start time from 3:30am with latest shifts finishing at 10:30pm.
What will make you successful in the role? No previous security knowledge required as full training will be provided together with on-the-job coaching, however you do need:
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Experience of leading and managing a team in a legislated service delivery environment
- First class customer service skills - able to demonstrate experience of building effective, lasting professional relationships with customers.
- Excellent resource utilisation, able to anticipate problems and the needs of the customer and react quickly to any demands on the service.
- Excellent communication skills able to give clear, constructive feedback, develop two-way communications and deliver difficult messages in a sensitive and a tactful way both to individuals and teams.
- Excellent observation skills with an attention to detail that ensures all security protocols and regulations are adhered to.
- Investigatory and report writing skills
- Hold a clean & valid UK Driving Licence
- Have colour perfect vision
- IT Literate in basic business software packages
- Have resided continually in the UK for the last 3 years to be able to obtain Counter Terrorism Clearance
