About the role

The Principal QA is a senior role, holding a position within the Quality Assurance domain. They are responsible for defining and implementing QA best practices and processes across the organisation. This role requires a deep understanding of QA methodologies, extensive experience in software testing, and a strategic mindset to drive quality improvements. The Principal QA must also possess strong leadership and communication skills, as they serve as a mentor and advisor to other QA professionals, and collaborate with various departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a QA strategy that sets testing standards across the Group. Provide leadership and direction to the QA teams, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement
  • Define and promote QA best practices, methodologies, and standards across the organisation. Ensure consistency and efficiency in testing processes. You'll own and champion QA from design through to delivery.
  • Continuously analyse QA processes and practices, identifying areas for improvement and driving initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency. Includes improving Test Governance and Quality Gates.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to QA professionals, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their role
  • Manage multiple Automation Leads/Engineers and be responsible for career development, objectives, performance reviews and other people management responsibilities. Identify training needs for team members to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with development, product management, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality considerations are integrated throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Monitor QA performance metrics, analyse trends, and monitor the effectiveness of QA activities and any areas requiring attention or improvement.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, tools, and best practices in QA and software testing. Lead research and development initiatives to explore and implement innovative QA solutions.

Essential skills

  • Extensive experience in software QA, with a deep understanding and experience of Agile methodologies and Waterfall
  • Strong communication skills,with the ability to communicate a consistent message clearly and concisely
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to guide, mentor, and motivate QA professionals
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • In-depth knowledge of QA tools, frameworks, and best practices
  • A passion for quality and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience of implementing Quality Gates and Test Governance
  • Knowledge of NFT and OAT
  • Experience managing 3rd party suppliers
  • Solid experience of working with Agile teams, processes, and tools.
  • Strong experience in a similar senior QA role
