The University of Strathclyde is looking to appoint a Research Associate to act as senior project manager for a project conducting research and implementing a transparency platform based on parliamentary behaviour as part of the Google Impact Challenge funded ParliView project. The Associate will work under the supervision and collaboration with project team leader, Dr Zachary Greene in the Department of Government and Public Policy. The primary responsibilities of the Associate include, project oversight and milestone management, regular project reports, cross-institutional coordination with project partners at University College Dublin and Brussels based Transparency International, stakeholder recruitment and relationship management, quality assurance, risk management and mitigation, compliance monitoring with university legal teams, communications strategy and implementation and deliverable tracking and reporting. The Associate will also lead in collaboration with the project team leader and project partners key academic outputs.
Highly desirable candidates will hold knowledge and experience of social science and computational research methods, stakeholder engagement, survey design, parliamentary studies, transparency initiatives, and experience of project management.
To be considered for the role, you will be educated to a minimum of PhD level in an appropriate discipline or have significant relevant experience in addition to a relevant degree. You will have sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge in social science research, transparency initiatives, and stakeholder engagement and a developing ability to conduct individual research work, to disseminate results and to prepare research proposals. You will have an ability to plan and organise your own workload effectively and an ability to work within a team environment. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.
Whilst not essential for the role, applications are welcomed from candidates with relevant work experience, membership of relevant Chartered/professional bodies (including the Higher Education Academy), experience of relevant student supervision and teaching activities, and/or experience of knowledge exchange related activities.
