Closing Date: 23 June 2024 The Role Are you hardworking, organised and passionate about university education and the opportunities it can offer young people? We are looking for a Student Recruitment Co-ordinator to join our busy team. The Newcastle University UK Recruitment Team develops, leads and delivers a range of exciting events and activities designed to encourage young people from across the UK to consider university and to give them a taste of what life is like as an undergraduate student at Newcastle University. As a Student Recruitment Co-Ordinator, you'll enjoy a varied role - in a typical week you might travel to another UK city to deliver an inspiring talk to students currently considering their options for life after school or college, plan and organise the logistics of an on-campus event, create engaging presentations or work with colleagues from across the University on large scale projects such as Open Days or Clearing. Conversion Activity An element of this role will involve the planning and organisation of our events exclusive to offer holders. This could include our series of Offer Holder Experience Days on campus. You will work with the Student Recruitment Manager to support the implementation of the University's strategies for student recruitment, widening participation and marketing to maximise the conversion of high-quality students from diverse backgrounds to Newcastle University. PARTNERS Programme You will work as part of the team that delivers the Newcastle University supported entry programme (PARTNERS); delivering PARTNERS specific recruitment events and activities throughout the year as well as leading and supporting elements of the PARTNERS application process. You will also play an integral part of the delivery of the residential Year 13 PARTNERS Academic Summer School which takes place annually in July. Event planning and delivery You will be involved in the organisation and delivery of multiple campus events for prospective students. One example is our ‘Bitesize Uni' Year 12 summer school, a residential event held on campus for over 200 students. As well as planning events, you'll also lead teams of Student Ambassadors, as well as other members of the Student Recruitment Team to deliver them successfully. You'll present to large audiences of students, parents/carers and teachers, manage event budgets and carry out comprehensive evaluation, including the preparation of reports. Outreach and recruitment activity You will also lead and support other key Student Recruitment Team projects and activities and line manage a member of the Student Recruitment Support Team. You will also support other University events and activities such as Open Days and Confirmation and Clearing. You will account manage several key schools and colleges across the UK, occasionally travelling to deliver presentations and activities, attend large scale recruitment fairs and other university events throughout the year. Who are we looking for? You will have experience of event planning and organisation, developing and delivering presentations, working as part of a team and managing a complex workload. Essential requirements of the role A full, clean driving license and the willingness to work some weekends and outside of normal office hours. You should also be able and willing to occasionally drive to events and school/college visits around the UK and to stay overnight when required. Hire cars are provided for travel. The UK Recruitment Team currently work flexibly. This role is full time (37 hours) and you will work in the office at least 3 days per week with the option to work the other 2 days at home (if travelling and activity delivery allows). This will include: Organisation and delivery of aspiration-raising projects and activities.Development and delivery of high quality presentations and workshops in schools/colleges to a range of target audiences including potential applicants, parents/carers and school staff. Lead staff training to ensure quality control and ongoing quality improvement, including overseeing the recruitment, selection, training and management of over 100 Student Ambassadors, mentors and students reps on an annual basis to support these events. Contribution to the ongoing evaluation of these projects and activities, and the monitoring and tracking of individual students in order to evaluate the impact of events and gauge their appropriateness, effectiveness and impact for the target audience/s. Prepare relevant evaluation reports for managers about the activities undertaken to ensure continuous improvement of activity. Contribution to ongoing work with target schools and colleges by carrying out visits throughout the UK to deliver activities, presentations and other appropriate outreach and awareness-raising sessions in schools/colleges. Assist the UK Recruitment Managers with school and college geographical targeting, identifying hotspots of target schools and co-ordinate visits to these areas. Where appropriate, line management responsibility for members of the Support Team. Manage and oversee the workload of team members, co-ordinate regular update meetings to review progress against agreed aims and objectives, and to ensure effective integrated workflow across the team. Carry out Conversation and Priorities reviews for members of staff, as well as recording annual leave and sickness. Develop and produce appropriate recruitment-related publicity / marketing information (print, web-based and new media) to raise the profile of the University and its activities among target audiences. Organise and deliver aspects of collaboratively run projects and events. This may include contributing to the development and delivery of conferences and events for target groups such as looked after young people,disabled students, parents and teachers. Events may include residential summer schools held on campus for prospective students. Support for national student recruitment activity. This may include leading on the organisation of student guides for the Autumn and Summer University Open Days (including the recruitment and training of student guides, allocation of roles and monitoring of student performance and attendance to ensure quality of delivery), the lead organisation of pre-application campus tours, and Offer Holder Experience Days. Support the representation of the University at a range of Higher Education recruitment events throughout the UK including large undergraduate and postgraduate Higher Education conventions, smaller recruitment and careers events in individual schools and colleges, and other recruitment events as may be identified during the course of the year.
