Job description The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre is looking for a Technical Lead to play a role in the leadership, management and expansion of applied research, innovation and knowledge transfer in Digitised Manufacturing and Industry 4.0. You will lead teams of engineers and technicians to undertake innovative research and development activities in collaboration with industry, different technology areas, technology providers, national technology centres and academia to deliver key projects, securing partnerships and funding. You will develop and implement technology strategies, grow regional and international links and contribute to building AMIC's talent and capabilities. Our mission is to provide you with the environment to innovate and create impact - for business and society, in Northern Ireland and globally.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: - Honours Degree, or equivalent, in related engineering or computer science discipline with significant recent and relevant experience OR minimum HND in related engineering discipline with extensive recent and relevant experience.
- Substantial relevant experience initiating, executing and managing multifaceted industrial-focussed research & development projects within deadlines and budget, displaying strong and effective resource management abilities.
- Strong evidence of technical excellence and understanding of fundamental engineering concepts as evidenced by major project outcomes and other outputs.
- Experience that demonstrates extensive breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research and development methods and techniques to work within established research programmes, with proven competence and technical expertise in:
- Theory and implementation of Digitised Manufacturing with experience using relevant software packages and associated manufacturing technologies.
- Specific knowledge and experience in one or more related technical areas such as machine connectivity, enterprise systems, data visualisation and analysis, machine learning and cyber security.

This is a fixed term post for 3 years. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
