This way, our customers can focus on offering better end-investor experiences and growing wealth. Position: Delivery Manager The Delivery Managers main responsibilities include:
  • Leading, managing and inspiring a successful Multi-Functional Team
  • Ensuring successful delivery of Projects
  • Provide timely and efficient 3rd Line Support
  • Forming close working relationships with other teams across the business.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience of both managing software development projects from inception through production warranty support and have experience with line managing staff. Project Delivery The Delivery Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of Projects undertaken by their team and will:
  • Ensure their team designs, develops and tests in accordance with established standards and policies
  • Manage their team's development efforts towards successful project delivery, ensuring team activities are on schedule, on budget, of high quality and any risks and issues are highlighted to relevant stakeholders with mitigation actions taken
  • Define delivery phases of Projects including activities and implementation milestones, ensuring these are documented and monitored through the delivery lifecycle
  • Ensure project plans are put into place and monitored throughout the development lifecycle, taking remedial action as required
  • Where needed perform the role of ScrumMaster
  • Ensure their teams produce delivery estimates that aim to be commercially viable and within agreed timescales
  • Validate the documentation or guidance from the Solution Architect(s), ensuring agreed standards are met before committing to work plans
  • Understand and ideally be able to contribute to the technical solution from design through coding and unit testing
  • Maintain high-standards of software quality within their team by establishing good practices and ensuring adherence to coding standards
  • Ensure the team produces and maintains documentation in accordance with established standards and provides help to the User Assistance team for product documentation
  • Manage change requests throughout the delivery
  • Manage resourcing for the team including work allocations
  • Contribute to and lead post project reviews and conduct team retrospectives
  • Liase directly with Clients for instance but not limited to keeping them informed of progress, ensure regular software demonstrations.
Support The Delivery Manager is responsible for the fixing of issues in their teams' functional areas of the system. In providing this support the Delivery Manager will ensure:
  • 3rd Line Support (Fixing and Testing of issues) is done within the team for its assigned functional areas
  • SLAs for delivering fixes to our clients are met
  • Provision of SME assistance during incident triage and investigation, supporting the 1st and 2nd lines where required
  • Review and assist with the analysis, and review of incidents trends within their assigned functional areas.
Relationship Building The Delivery Manager will work closely with relevant teams to ensure alignment and coordination of development solutions and will
  • Work closely with Client Relationship Managers and Clients to identify the pipeline of work, secure revenue, manage demand and meet (and set) client expectations in delivering projects
  • Work closely with the FIGARO Support Team to ensure Live and UAT issue progress is understood
  • Work closely with Project Managers in the planning and governance of large delivery projects
  • Support Heads of Departments to ensure the teams have the right level of experience and skills, recommending training and/or recruitment where appropriate
  • Work closely with teams in other capabilities to ensure alignment and coordination of solutions and implementation
  • Provide feedback to other managers within the Company in relation to solution development activities carried out by their teams
  • Encourage effective teamwork amongst the multi-functional team members and Project Managers to produce accurate solutions delivery estimates
  • Ensure collaboration of their team with other solutions delivery teams and contribute to defining and rolling out process improvements within the delivery function.
People Management and Development
  • Line manage and lead direct reports
  • Maintain good working relationships with all members of their team, ensuring all team members work together effectively
  • Direct your team members to ensure they undertake their responsibilities effectively, and complete all required tasks
  • Arrange regular informal meetings with each team member to discuss current workloads, progress towards objectives, and address any concerns/problems that they may have
  • Agree performance objectives in line with the Company Strategy; appraise performance and maintain development plans for direct reports, ensuring all meetings and paperwork are completed within the established timescales
  • Use experience, training, and expertise to enhance the skills of the team including to train, mentor and coach team members as required
  • Monitor team timekeeping, absences, and holiday requests to ensure no adverse impacts on the business or the client, and deal with problems if they arise
  • Manage under performance and disciplinary problems in line with Company Procedure
  • Manage resourcing for their team, and assist with recruitment of new team members - this includes reviewing CVs, conducting interviews, and completing interview notes
  • Encourage and expand best practice throughout the Company
  • Seek the advice of HR where appropriate.
Experience Essential
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in a delivery or project management role with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects, with past experience in the line management of staff
  • Strong leadership ability and interpersonal skills
  • Significant experience of software development delivery preferably with the financial services industry
  • Strong background in software development, ideally with relevant technologies to FNZ
  • An independent, self-directed and delivery-focused working style
  • An uncompromising attitude towards delivering to project milestones and not missing dates
  • Highly outcome focused, seeking the best outcome for FNZ and its clients
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder engagement skills and experience
  • Confidently able to take the initiative in a client and delivery focused environment
  • Tenacious and energetic - able to define and apply solutions effectively to keep projects on track
  • Pragmatist that is capable of operating effectively in a highly fluid and ambiguous environment
  • Excellent planning, organising, time management, coaching and administration skills
  • Degree qualified or equivalent
Desirable
  • Project management professional qualifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile project management)
  • Familiarity with the Agile project methodologies desirable
  • Familiarity with financial products and markets desirable
