Job Responsibility:
An opportunity has arisen for multiple individuals who hold a passion for financial markets, looking to start their career at an established and well respected market maker Winterflood.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a good understanding of the dynamics affecting the financial market and their potential impact on fiscal products.
During this Office Junior “apprenticeship” you will gain exposure to a variety of different divisions during your training under the supervision of experienced personnel across the Front, Middle and Back Office, thus your will gain an excellent insight into reading and responding to the Market and the supporting functions.
As well as having a sound understanding of the markets, the successful candidate will have strong numeracy and analytical skills combined with excellent communication skills; successful candidates will enjoy working in a high-pressured, fast-moving environment, liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders and clients.
Above all, you will need to be honest and trustworthy, with a sound understanding, respect and commitment to our obligation to maintain the stability and fairness of Financial Markets, and the remit of compliance and governance parameters outlined both by the Company and our Regulators.
It is expected that after this apprenticeship will last on average 2-3 years, with successful candidates being placed in a permanent role within the business in either the Front Middle or Back Office.
The Role
Successful applicants will participate in rotations across the Front, Middle and Back Office. Winterflood will support all successful applicants with access to industry training such as formal CISI Financial Regulation and Securities exams.
The planned start of the role will be August 2024
Duties will include:
- Provide general day to day support to senior personnel and their designated desk/business divisions
- Develop and understanding of financial markets, products and services through a variety of methods
- Participate in the shadowing established Market Makers on the trading floor;
- Completion of mandatory cyclical compliance training.
- Retain compliance with legal requirements, industrial regulations, organizational policies and professional codes
- Assisting in managing client relationships and day-to-day customer support
- Assist in producing supporting client presentations for meetings where necessary
- Gather and analyse management information including relevant research
- Supporting business development and client on-boarding
- Monitor and support critical trading workflows, reviewing alerts
- Providing real-time support for Market Makers and Sales Traders
- Reporting & reconciliation of key trading controls
- Ensuring we meet our Market Making obligations & reporting
- Helping to manage & maintain business critical static data information
- Build an understanding of Settlements & Corporate Actions (on specific events)
- Develop a working relationship with Compliance and Risk
Requirements
- Availability to start a full time role from August 2024
- Excellent academic record; educated to A-Level and upwards
- Demonstrable interest in Financial Markets
- Strong analytical / mathematical skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Quick learner, with ability to question and challenge
- Ability to multi-task, sometimes under pressure
- Ability to plan and prioritize workload
- Self-starter, initiative and motivated to achieve end goals
- Team player, working in close knit environment
