Job Responsibility:
Are you looking for a fun an rewarding job over the school holidays? Branch Out Together provides a holiday service for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 18 who have a diagnosis of autism or with similar support needs.
From a venue based in West Lothian we will offer a programme of fun activities which will keep the children active, safe and happy. Our aim is provide essential respite to children and their families whilst providing opportunities to meet new people and have fun. Our activities are varied and based on the needs of those who attend and can include visits from animal handlers and magicians, to trips out to local parks and other attractions. Our venue will have a variety of arts and crafts, sensory play, board games and other activities available at all times.
Holiday Support Workers will
- Be paired 1:2, 1:1 or 2:1 with a child/young person .
- Establish warm and supportive relationships with the children/young people.
- Ensure that the child/young person is safe at all times.
- Assist the leader in administering/witnessing medication/personal care if applicable.
- Actively assist and engage the children and young people attending to participate in the activities available; both in the venue and at external venues.
- Serve as a positive role model for the children and young people attending.
- Encourage and support the formation/continuation of friendships between the children/young people.
- Help and support the children and young people attending to get involved in imaginative play and enable them to enjoy new experiences.
- Be responsible for the belonging's the children/young people bring each day.
- Report any incidents, accidents and other relevant information to the leader as soon as possible.
Opportunities are available over the following school holidays. The working day is from 08:45 - 15:15 Monday to Thursday.
Dates: The holiday programme will run Monday - Thursday throughout July and the first week in August
We are looking for individuals who ideally have professional or personal experience of working with children and young people. Previous experience working with individuals with autism is not essential as training will be provided.
Job Type: Temporary contractContract length: 6 weeks
Pay: £12.00 per hour
