Achieving net zero by 2045 is an integral part of Convatec's commitment to protecting the planet and supporting communities through Convatec Cares, our approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Last year, Convatec took an important step on this journey, by setting near term science-based carbon reduction targets. To help drive progress in 2024, Convatec is launching a global sustainability internship programme across a range of sustainability disciplines, from materials scientists to mechanical engineers - to focus on specific opportunities and help prepare the workforce of the future to drive sustainability. Interns will be placed across our Global Quality & Operations, Technology & Innovation, and Global Corporate Affairs teams. Sustainability internship programme Convatec's sustainability internship programme will offer emerging leaders the opportunity to engage in a variety of focused topics during Q3. The aim of the programme is to give interns a learning experience that allows the application of skills and development in a professional setting, whilst supporting our subject matter experts to advance key priority projects.
This role reports into the Process Control and Instrumentation Lead, who will provide guidance and mentorship during the placement. You will be responsible for carrying out steam usage quantification for units 1 and the Annex manufacturing suites, confirm demand for process operations and facilities heating - identify alternative sources.
- 100% paid internship - 1,833.33 GBP monthly gross.
- Length of the internship - From July until September.
- Hours per week - 35h/week.
Your key duties and responsibilities
- Carry out steam usage quantification for units 1 and the Annex manufacturing suites
- Confirm demand for process operations and facilities heating - identify alternative sources.
About you Mandatory
- Ability to work independently and be an excellent team player working collaboratively and participating in projects.
- Attention to detail
- Ability to present and communicate clearly and concisely.
- Flexible, adaptable and capable of lateral thinking.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills and ability to multi-task.
- English language - good communication level.
- Valid driving license
Nice to have
- Basic knowledge of technology, facility and manufacturing equipment.
- Engineering / energy / built environment related undergraduate or postgraduate (BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng).
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite of applications.
- A keen interest in Environment, Social Governance with a particular focus on energy systems.
- An understanding of carbon management and the UK plans for ‘net zero'.
- Understanding of thermo-dynamics and applicability in industry.
