Job Responsibility:

Key Responsibilities

• Ecological Surveys:
• Conduct Phase 1 / Fossitt habitat surveys and IVCs.
• Carry out protected species scoping surveys and bat surveys.
• Report Writing:
• Prepare detailed reports, including preliminary ecological appraisals, ecological impact assessments, EIA chapters, biodiversity management plans, protected species reports, and Appropriate Assessments/Natura Impact Statements.
• Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
• Liaise with clients and statutory consultees.
• Attend client and site meetings.
• On-Site Roles:
• Perform Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties as required.

Essential Criteria

• Education: Degree in Ecology or a related field.
• Experience: Significant experience in professional report writing and a strong understanding of Irish ecological legislation and regulations.
• Skills: Proficiency in Phase 1 / Fossitt habitat surveys & IVCs. Must be technically competent, detail-oriented, reliable, and well-organized.
• Flexibility: Willingness to travel across Northern Ireland (NI) and the Republic of Ireland (ROI), with occasional overnight stays.
• License: Full driving license and access to personal transport.

Desirable Criteria

• Certifications: CIEEM accreditation.
• Experience: Postgraduate experience in ecological surveys, particularly in ornithology, bat surveys, GWDTE, and ECoW roles.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with ArcGIS or similar software.
• Additional Expertise: Experience with other protected species surveys.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: £350.00-£450.00 per day
