JOB DESCRIPTION

Overall purpose

Senior Lecturer Admissions and Quality is a crucial postholder in our academic management structure with specific responsibility for enhancing admissions and academic quality, ensuring that existing and confirmed academic misconduct cases are efficiently and effectively managed and to implement initiatives to reduce and prevent issues at Regent College London so our students can fulfil their potential.

The role encompasses the full job description of the Lecturer role, plus admission support and academic quality enhancement responsibilities. The post holder will provide a combination of teaching, student and staff support to assure high-quality academic management for their respective School so students can engage and achieve success within their taught programmes in line with OfS B conditions.

Specific duties and responsibilities

Academic Management

This role takes on responsibilities for enhancing our admission process, academic quality and integrity for specific levels and partners. Within the execution of the role the post holder will

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, college and, accrediting partner policies and procedures relating to admissions recruitment and academic integrity, as applicable
  • In collaboration with Recruitment, Admissions and Enrolment team (RAE), exceptionally deal with specific academic-related enquiries from potential students in a timely and informative manner
  • Undertake a School-based coordinating role in the review of applications, and participate in prospective student interviews, credibility interviews (CIs), intention to study meetings (ISMs) and related activities, ensuring all appropriate documentation is fully completed and recorded (e.g. non-standard application forms)
  • Understand, develop, communicate and coordinate processes to enhance recruitment quality, academic support, quality and integrity
  • Work with colleagues to effectively enhance academic quality, giving feedback to RAE
  • Efficiently and effectively manage and coordinate academic quality initiatives e.g. academic integrity processes and misconduct panels, as per regulations
  • Collaborate to innovate and improve our academic learning, teaching and assessment practices to reduce quality issues and improve students experience and attainment
  • Perform required line management / oversight function for any assigned team.
  • Support staff development processes and mentor colleagues with less experience
  • Participate in the recruitment and induction process of staff and students as required.

Student Support

The post holder will

  • Be a senior point of academic contact for assuring appropriate admissions and improving academic integrity
  • Support and make decisions in collaboration with others on applications from prospective students
  • Ensure the needs of prospective students with declared disabilities, other special study needs or English language support are recorded and referred to appropriate services within the College
  • Attend recruitment and admissions training and development workshops; disseminate and feedback key information and procedure changes to School-based colleagues
  • Work with the SL ASO, CSO, Module Leaders and report to Programme Leaders to support students and ensure good practice is in place to assure academic quality and students' success
  • Ensure any issues of student quality performance e.g. academic integrity, AI, referencing, academic skills are addressed, signposting students to relevant and specialist College services as necessary.
  • Develop and deliver tailored support to measurably enhance academic quality

Teaching

The post holder will

  • Have a reduced teaching load to enable sufficient focus on admissions and academic quality responsibilities
  • Periodically review programme-specific admissions and entry criteria information published online or in other recruitment marketing material is up to date, and consistent with College or accrediting partner guidelines
  • Work with Heads of School/Programme Leaders, Admissions, Recruitment, Student Services, Registry and Operations teams on the planning and delivery of induction activities
  • Design teaching and assessment material and deliver either across a range of modules or within a subject area and support the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Plan
  • Be responsible for monitoring and reducing academic quality issues and misconduct cases across assigned levels working with Module Leaders, ASOs and into PLs
  • Actively support achievement of relevant KPIs and the OfS B conditions
  • Contribute as appropriate to the Annual Monitoring Reports and Programme Evaluations

Assessment and Marking

The post holder will

  • Provide students and colleagues with constructive, proactive support to prevent issues and enhance academic quality
  • Identify and support colleagues to identify cases of possible academic misconduct and manage these according to the relevant policies and regulations
  • Produce, mark, moderate summative assessments according to the approved assessment brief and provide timely and constructive feedback to students within the deadlines published by the Assessment Team.
  • Review relevant module assessments with Module Leaders, Tutors ensuring they are in line with the awarding body (ies) expectations and that they are suitable to prevent academic quality issues.
  • Monitor External Examiner / Assessment Board Reports and feedback on academic quality.
  • Contribute to the Annual Monitoring Report.

Scholarship

The postholder will

  • Engage with scholarship within the School ensuring the impact is evident in the classroom and through our students' performance
  • Support the School in its plans and in line with the College's Scholarship Plan

This position requires candidates to undergo a DBS check as part of the application process.
