The primary purpose of the Production Manager is the lead and direct manufacturing activities within areas under their responsibility. In this particular role this is focussed on our Packing Operations here at Wrexham.

As Production Manager for Packing Operations you will be responsible for owning and executing an agreed plan that ultimately delivers products meeting Quality, Cost & Supply requirements. Furthermore, you will embed a culture of genuine engagement and continuous improvement, whilst ensuring a safe, compliant and effective operation that is aligned with all support functions and delivers on manufacturing objectives.

What will you be doing…

  • Own the day-to-day outcomes and performance of the Packing Operations of the Wrexham site.
  • Working with all functions within packing, develop plans and strategies that meet the future needs of the business. influencing SLT & key corporate stakeholders as required.
  • Own the departmental budget and manage departmental expenditure to deliver agreed business objectives within the defined budget.
  • Identify improvement and efficiency opportunities and contribute to or lead (as appropriate) continuous improvement activities and projects to improve the performance of all production activities and the Production Teams, in alignment with the sites business objectives and imperatives.
  • Working with all functions, in particular Planning and Supply Chain, develop an agreed operational plan (including development / NPI batches), via the Site S&OP process and deliver on commitments.
  • Ensure EHS obligations are met within the Production facility, in accordance with EHS policies and procedures
  • To ensure all relevant c-GMP documentation is compliant, accurate, easy to understand and followed, with KPI's in place to track RFT performance and improvement plans.
  • All production activities are appropriately recorded and that all deviations or incidents are reported, investigated and resolved in a timely fashion, to prevent reoccurrence and facilitate batch dispositioning.
  • Working closely with Engineering & utilising good planning techniques, ensure all PPM's, calibration and validation activities are executed to schedule.
  • Lead and manage the Production Team, ensuring performance appraisals are carried out for all team members and that both good and poor performance are appropriately managed. Building a Production team of the future which is cross functional, agile and able to operate in other Production facilities across the Wrexham site.
  • To identify training needs for the team, ensure appropriate training takes place to provide a competent and motivated team.
  • Utilising Visual Management, ensure effective communication of business objectives, KPIs and facility performance is actively captured and utilised for the purpose of decision making to achieve the business objectives.
  • Lead regulatory audits and responses, working with the Site regulatory team to understand and manage present and upcoming changes in regulations to ensure continued Production activities.
  • Adhere to all Site policies and procedures, ensuring training is actively cascaded to all direct reports.
  • Provide dedicated technical expertise to support the Manufacturing function in Managing Unplanned events, deliver Integrated projects and Efficiency projects to provide opportunities to Fuel the Future.
  • Utilising CPV data, CAPEX, Projects and Enterprise Excellence Initiatives, in conjunction with MS&T, deliver improvements to the DP production Ways of Working, Facility and Equipment.
  • Provide dedicated resource and technical expertise (both own and from within the team) in the development of New Drug Products, Techniques, Equipment and Facilities on the Wrexham site.
  • Engage with key stakeholders in BPD/Pharm-Dev to support the mfg. of clinical and technical development Drug Substance and Drug product batches.

What are we looking for…

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a GMP environment and preference towards a Packing & Inspection operation
  • Knowledge of aseptic processing and freeze drying
  • Demonstrable experience of successful planning and delivery to achieve manufacturing objectives
  • An agile mindset and comfortable adapting to changing business demands, whilst ensuring teams continue to remain effective and efficient
  • Well-versed in quality standards and Quality Risk Management
  • Prior experience of successful delivery of an improvement project and has a genuine ability to problem solve for the future, perhaps possessing a Lean/Six Sigma qualification to demonstrate this
  • Effective communicator across all formats
  • Comfortable engaging and at times leading conversation amongst peer groups and SLT members, and at times influencing decisions with justified reasoning
