Job Responsibility:
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Head of Construction to join us here at Bradford College and lead the colleges Construction department that incorporates provision in Further Education, Higher Education, Adults and Apprenticeships.
The Head of Department is responsible for ensuring there is a responsive, engaging curriculum that provides progression routes to further study and employment. The Head of Department is responsible for the achievement of the departmental business plan in relation to curriculum, student recruitment, quality, finance, audit, people and corporate services and is part of the wider College management team.

Responsibilities include:
Implements the Bradford College vision for an outstanding provision aligned to the 4-year strategy and informed by market research, staff and student feedback, the needs of external stakeholders, the community and employers
Plans the FE & HE curriculum to support the delivery of the College strategy and provide a responsive offer to the needs of Study Programme, Adults and HE students
Deliver the technical element of Apprenticeships in Engineering
Optimises the efficient delivery of the curriculum to achieve targets
Constantly strives to improve the student experience with a view to further extending opportunities and progression to further study or employment
Keeps abreast of national qualifications on offer, making decisions for the most appropriate qualifications for students.
Responds to national, regional and local polices by developing innovative models of delivery and monitoring their effectiveness
Engages employers in the design and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring the curriculum offer meets local and regional skills needs
Builds strong links with relevant agencies; including employer boards, universities and schools to extend student enhancement and enrichment opportunities
Work in collaboration with Heads of Department with both curriculum and support area responsibilities to ensure effective delivery of the wider College curriculum offer
Oversees the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning within FE & HE
Works in partnership with the Quality team to identify, develop and implement appropriate quality initiatives

Education & Training
Degree or Level 5 professional qualification
GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
Experience of curriculum development related to 16-19 Study Programmes, Apprenticeships, Adults and Higher Education
Working with employers and stakeholders to design and enhance the curriculum offer
Implementing quality improvement processes
Managing people and resources
Experience of pastoral and enrichment enhancements for students
Sound knowledge of funding in FE & HE settings
