Skyrad is seeking a Trainee Inventor to join our dynamic team in the research industry. Our company develops new inventions in the renewable energy, water conservation and Internet of Things industry. We combine out-of-the-box thinking with innovative engineering, cutting edge AI and data science to create brand new products, test them and bring them to market. Our products to date include LeakBot leak detector (https://leakbot.io), the Pippa Intelligent cooking assistant (http://mypippa.me) and the Yo-Go electric buggy (http://yo-go.city). As an Algorithm Inventor, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience in the development of cutting-edge products.. We will show you how we generate new ideas, prototype, test, patent and bring them to market so you can learn to use your engineering skills to maximum effect over your career.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with our scientists and engineers to develop new products
• Conduct research on new technologies
• Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of products - these might be AI, electronic, mechanical or purely software based.
• Go from hands on - e.g. testing a new design of leak detection system or modifying an electric vehicle design through to hard core mathematical modelling and data analysis using deep neural nets.

Requirements

• A very good degree in engineering, physics or a related field. Post grad degree preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Enthusiasm for creating new things - do you tinker with Arduinos or write your own apps? Can you wield a spanner and a soldering iron?
• Some higher level coding skills - Python, Matlab. Other coding skills and general development skills (Github, AWS) desirable.
• Typically 0-3 years post Uni experience in an engineering or R&D role.
