Vacancy Description
Mid Kent Environmental Health is a well-established Environmental Health partnership looking for a forward-thinking dynamic Officer to join our Food and Safety Team.
You will predominately work across two of the three authority boundaries within our partnership (Swale & Maidstone). Your caseload will be diverse, and will include health & safety, special treatments, infectious diseases as well as food hygiene. You will be investigating complaints, undertaking inspections, including some of our 34 wide ranging approved premises, in line with regulatory requirements. You will be a strong team player with a positive outlook and excellent communication and IT skills within the work setting and wider community.
In taking on this role you will be part of a large, supportive team working to deliver services to make the boroughs a safer place to work, live and visit. You will help maintain a level playing field across the partnership in which businesses can thrive. Most of this work is undertaken during office hours Monday to Friday, however, there will be an occasional need to work evenings and/or weekends depending on service needs.
In return, you can expect to work as part of a friendly, supportive team, have access to quality training and develop your own fields of interest. You will be supported by a strong outward looking leadership team who can, and do, draw upon a wide range of professional and specialist support to ensure excellence across the partnership.
This is a fantastic opportunity for career minded individuals to expand and develop their skills within a high performing partnership. The successful candidate will hold the BSc. Or MSc. in Environmental Health (or equivalent). We welcome applications from newly qualified Environmental Health Officers and those about to qualify this academic year.
Additional benefits for this post include 26 days annual leave (increasing to 29 days after 5 years Local Government service and 34 days after 30 years' service) pro rata, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, essential car user allowance, free parking, and payment of professional membership fees.
The Food & Safety team sits within a traditional Environmental Health service, members of the team work flexibly, combining work from home with site visits and their office base.
