Job Introduction

Are you interested in a full time Technical Support Officer role in Road Adoptions we currently have? We are a busy service, dealing with various enquiries, highway applications, highway improvement schemes and flood risk management projects.

You will work in the Technical Support Team, primarily providing a variety of admin and technical support to the Road Adoptions Team, within Sustainable Development.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Deal with the financial and administrative processes associated with new development and its impact upon the public highway.
  • Administer the Advanced Payments Code with reference to the processing and monitoring of the progress of S38 Agreements from inception to adoption.
  • Process planning applications in accordance with the County Council's obligations with District Councils.
  • Record the receipt of planning applications through the administrative systems and distribute to staff as appropriate.
  • Record the receipt of Major and Minor Works packs through the administrative systems for commissioning to our service provider.
  • Liaise with officers responsible for Section 7 Applications (Staffordshire Act 1983) to ensure that the S38 Agreement secures Road Safety Audits and Commuted Maintenance Sums where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate

you will have:

  • Ability to deliver to deadlines
  • Experience in participating in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand maps, OS sheets and scheme plans
  • Experience of Word and Excel
  • Good communication skills
  • Confidence to work with people at all levels as well as the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Experience in the use of computer based databases and geographical information systems and some experience of financial systems
