About us
The Procurement Apprentice will be working closely with the Procurement team within the council. Reporting directly to the Deputy Procurement Manager, the apprentice will support various procurement activities and initiatives. They will collaborate with colleagues across different departments to provide essential information and assistance related to procurement and commissioning activities. This role offers an opportunity to learn and grow within a dynamic team environment while contributing to the Council's procurement objectives.
The role
As a Procurement Apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting the Procurement team while completing the Procurement and Supply Assistant Apprenticeship. Your day-to-day activities will involve providing assistance to the team, undertaking various tasks aligned with service needs, and contributing to procurement activities across the organisation. You'll have the opportunity to work on your initiative, prioritise workload effectively, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver essential procurement services. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in procurement while completing an apprenticeship program.

Expected Hours of Work: This role requires a commitment of 37 hours per week, following the standard working hours of the organisation. Flexibility may be required to accommodate emerging work demands or alternative arrangements as necessary.
What's needed?
- Commitment to undertaking and completing an Apprenticeship including Functional Skills.
- Availability to work 37 hours per week with flexibility to cover alternative arrangements to respond to emerging work demands.
- Ability to understand and demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, seeking help, support, and advice when needed.
- Ability to use IT software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Experience of working as part of a team and using own initiative to prioritize workload.
- Experience of communicating with and preparing documentation for various audiences.
