Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the HSE Manager with regards to all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental. The role includes liaising with site teams to ensure safe operations and also liaising with the HSE Inspectors. Provision of advice and guidance to site teams regarding all aspects of compliance with the Explosives Regulations, COMAH and general HS&E legislation. The HS&E Team also maintain the site ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified Management Systems. Responsible for the implementation and coordination of all H&S programmes for the site. Carry out site safety planning to ensure that there are sufficient controls in place to reduce or prevent hazards through managing process safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with the HSE Manager, draft and implement of all statutory H&S systems, policies and procedures, and maintaining the site's approved PPE catalogue (including arranging of PPE proof-testing).
- To identify any H&S training requirements for employees. Devise, supervise, and coordinate training programs or media which will increase efficiency of safe practices and promote and reinforce HSE culture.
- Lead on COSHH Assessment, Safety Assessment and Risk Assessment activities on site, including HAZID, HAZOP, etc, where required.
- Provide support in identifying and preparing waste streams for safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Assist with drafting and maintaining site related explosive licencing.
- Lead on incident investigations and provided detailed reports including lessons learned and corrective actions.
- Work with the Group HSE Manager, Site MD and Site HSE Manager to foster a strong safety culture by promoting employee engagement, feedback, and participation in safety initiatives.
Who are we looking for?:
- 3-5 years in a manufacturing facility practicing process & product safety and its challenges.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as H&S Advisor in a manufacturing environment or equivalent military experience.
- Knowledge and experience of HSE legislation, eg, COMAH Regulations.
- Investigation techniques and report writing.
- Strong influencer who can effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation.
- Sense of urgency with the ability to prioritise critical activities.
- Able to undertake Safety Assessment activities (Risk Assessment, HAZID, HAZOP, COSHH assessments, etc) with minimal supervision.
