If this role interests you apply below or you can send your cv to helpmehr@abingdon-witney.ac.uk £31,950 - £41,395 per annum 37 hours per week The working pattern is Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours per day Friday 7 hours per day 52 weeks per annum Common Leys Campus Permanent We are looking to appoint an inspirational and experienced Equine Science lecturer, predominantly to teach on our higher education courses. We run a BSc in Equine Science, a Foundation Degree and BSc top up in Animal Therapy and Rehabilitation in partnership with Oxford Brookes University. The partnership has an excellent track record for producing successful graduates with a high percentage of first-class Honours degrees that progress on to impressive industry careers or to level 7 education. You will be required to teach at the Headington Campus of Oxford Brookes University three days per week during the university teaching semesters, one day a week at the college Common Leys Campus and potentially one day at our Witney campus. The college is a full member of Landex the national organisation for aspiring Land-based colleges and we have excellent practical and teaching facilities at the Common Leys Farm Campus, just 3 miles outside of Witney, that includes a unique Thoroughbred stud. Oxford Brookes University is a modern, inspiring and innovative teaching space. You would be joining a vibrant and enthusiastic team of staff who strive for exceptional learning, sharing of best practice and professional development is key. Knowledge and experience in delivering on modules such as equine genetics, nutrition, exercise physiology, equestrian land management, injury, and rehabilitation will be of benefit. Experience in small animal rehabilitation and therapy would be an advantage but not essential. Having equine industry experience is essential. You should be qualified to a minimum of BSc level, but MSc level would be preferable in an equine related subject and have previous teaching experience in further or higher education. A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential, but you must be willing to study towards this on your appointment. The successful candidate will be passionate and skilled in preparing young people and adults for work in the sector.
