Glencore Copper is seeking a Document Writer & Controller to support the growth and development of our Copper Portfolio to be based at our Maidenhead office in England. This role will support our projects and current operations in Africa.

Primary focus:
The primary purpose of the Document Writer & Controller role is to ensure that appropriate technical and project management documentation is produced for projects in the capital portfolio and that all documentation produced is professionally presented. This role is also accountable for ensuring that procedures for document management are documented and applied to the project portfolio, thereby ensuring that all project documentation is correctly routed, accessible, accurate and maintained in a standard format and that document management records are accurate and auditable.
In this role you will:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of regional document management processes and systems.
- Ensure that documentation is prepared to inform, instruct, or influence, with its purpose presented in such a way that the readers and stakeholders clearly understand what is expected of them.
- Ensure that there is a process in place to manage and maintain documentation supplied by and transmitted to EPC/M contractors.
- Ensure that internal and external transmittals are accessible and auditable.
- Ensure that technical and complex information is conveyed simply, accurately, and effectively to project stakeholders.
- Ensure that the correct templates are used, and that that content is formatted in line with the applicable standard for that document type.
- Ensure consistency in all the ancillary documentation produced to achieve a defined outcome (e.g., Independent Peer Review, Steering Committee etc.).
- Ensure an exceptional standard of quality for all documentation produced and issued from the PMO.
- Ensure that project documentation is filed (electronically) and physically if needed.
- Provide reports on the status and quality of documentation.
- Ensure that project management documents are routed for signature and that final copies are distributed accordingly.
- Ensure version control and management of standards, procedures, templates, and project governance artefacts.
Skills & Competencies
- Define document management procedures and systems and enforce their use across projects.
- Develop and maintain document control workflows.
- Implement and maintain an EDMS to workflow, store and retrieve project documentation.
- Produce and distribute documents to the relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain document management plans for the portfolio.
- Create and maintain master records for documentation.
- Create and distribute project documents to the correct stakeholders and facilitate signatures.
- Conduct quality reviews of project documentation.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments.
- Ability to adapt to changing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with governance, change management, enterprise architecture and business improvement frameworks and methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, work independently and with excellent time management.
- Experience with ThinkCell will be beneficial.
Experience
- Undergraduate degree in administration, IT/IS, library management or record management.
- Additional education or certification in project management or administration is advantageous (e.g. CAPM/Prince 2/PMP).
- 5 years' proven work experience as a document controller and technical writer in a complex operating environment.
- Experience with Microsoft product suite beneficial (incl. PowerBI).
- Experience with other web-based project management platforms.
- Good understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration.
- Proficient in data management and documentation using software applications.
- Exceptional interpersonal, influencing and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Experience working in Africa would be advantageous.
- English language skills. French would be advantageous.
- Ability to travel to the DRC occasionally.
