The team are seeking an Environmental Protection Officer who will bring a supportive and solution-focused approach to blend into our working practices. You will be able to contribute to the delivery of an efficient, effective, and customer-focused service, with a key role in protecting, sustaining, and improving people's quality of life, including some of the more vulnerable members of our community. We can make a real difference to lived experiences in Colchester and the Council is committed to delivering high-quality and accessible services for residents, visitors, and businesses. We promise a varied and interesting workload which includes managing a caseload of investigations, customer requests and enforcement referrals, in addition to advising on planning and licensing consultations. There is also the opportunity to improve and protect the quality of the environment including contaminated land, air and water quality. Consequently, the role requires reasonable, relevant, background knowledge in environmental protection matters. However, attitude and aptitude are also critical, so the team is flexible and resourced to accommodate a range of candidates from a new graduate, through to an experienced and fully qualified professional.
