Working hours: Minimum of 35 hours per week, working a minimum of 40% across each month in the Territorial Headquarters, London

The central processing finance function sits within the Finance Department and is based at the Territorial Head Quarters. It is a large centralised processing team that provide a clear and transparent service encompassing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable along with the purchase card administration and expenses. It manages high volumes of transaction processing including: Purchase order processing, purchase invoices, expenses, other payments, purchase card administration, generating miscellaneous sales invoices, income processing and payroll.

Our Accounts Payable team are energised and committed to delivering a great service to our customers, both internal and external. It is a busy department processing on average 11,500 transactions per month.

The role is focused on providing support to the Accounts Payable Manager with the effective running of the Accounts Payable Team, ensuring the delivery of the relevant outputs, KPIs and SLAs of the centralised payment processing team. The role is responsible for the supervision of all allocated personnel by ensuring timely processing of payments and will deputise for the Accounts Payable Manager in their absence.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A degree level education, AAT qualified, or are actively studying or are qualified by experience
  • Significant accounts payable experience ideally in a large organisation operating multi-fund accounting across a range of operations with specific knowledge of situations that may compromise controls and its mitigation
  • Experience of managing an accounts payable team,
  • Experience of developing and delivering against KPIs and SLAs to successfully deliver process improvement and performance enhancement
  • Good understanding of double entry accounting
  • Experience of U4BW, Agresso or equivalent P2P ERP system
  • Strong management skills, operating as a role model with the ability to engage and motivate the team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to influence and engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Detail orientation with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to be flexible and to work with tight deadlines with a high volume of work
  • Customer focused with excellent problem solving skills
