Job Responsibility:
Vacancy: Engineer I Location: Royston Job Family: Engineering To provide technical support for the SCAT testing of samples for functional testing by ensuring safe operations, scheduling equipment usage, reviewing and reporting data quality, equipment fault diagnostics, generating new test processes and methodologies, managing projects for continuous improvement both locally and globally and liaison with equipment and service suppliers and internal stakeholders. - Ensure equipment is operating is a safe manner and flag any operational concerns in daily meetings.
- Monitor data quality and diagnose faults relating to operational concerns or shifts in test data. Look for trends in data to spot if issues are occurring.
- Plan downtime for rig servicing or maintenance activities.
- Generate macros and processes to work up raw data and review data quality as required.
- Prioritise test programmes to support urgent testing needs.
- Ensure schedules and processes for SCAT testing, preparation and ageing are followed.
- Develop new test procedures and processes in response to customer requirements.
- Contribute to the compiling, review and reporting of department KPIs.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Development and Applications Chemists, plant quality teams and OEMs as appropriate.
- Manage diverse projects for the continuous improvement of the SCAT laboratories both locally and globally as appropriate. Present results to the team and wider stakeholders.
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and service engineers to maintain and improve equipment.
- Lead fault finding & problem-solving exercises. Implement and follow Lean tools for continuous improvement.
Requirements for the role:
- Degree in Engineering/Chemistry - Preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing or QC environment - Desirable
- Proficiency in use of IT Programs (Excel advance knowledge) - Desirable
- Experience from emission testing - Desirable
- Fluency in written and spoken English. - Essential
