Reporting to the Digital Delivery and Technical Integration Leader, the GIS Team Leader will work with teams across the business (including centrally, sectors and contracts) on our multi-disciplinary projects, interfacing with various internal and external clients to understand, shape and deliver their GIS strategy and business requirements.

The GIS Team Leader will manage the demands on the team, and ensure that work is prioritised and delivered to stakeholders to meet quality, time and cost targets.

The successful candidate will have a solid background and extensive experience in geospatial applications, data products and solutions, preferably across the Transportation, Defence and Water sectors. The candidate will also have a passion for spatial data visualisation and analytics themes, including integration with other systems and capabilities.

The role will provide visibility of the GIS team capabilities, and will be responsible for identifying opportunities to implement geospatial solutions and further engagement with projects across the business. Other opportunities for engagement include digital leads, business development, solutions architects and consultants across sectors to identify internal and external opportunities.

The role will provide opportunities to learn new skills and work with different in-house teams from several disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.

Develop client facing opportunities and act as a trusted client advisor Understand client needs, and provide technical advice and solutions for the client's consideration Lead the GIS team, and ensure that stakeholder demands are prioritised, and delivered by the team members within quality, time and cost expectations. Unlocking the potential of each of the team members, and providing personal development opportunities as appropriate Ensure GIS mapping, analysis, data capture, data management and geoprocessing are delivered by the team to internal and external clients, to high standards, on time and to budget Advise project staff on all GIS and workflow automation opportunities Keep up to speed with the latest and emerging geospatial technologies and data structures Manage Costain's ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, including user management and licencing Contribute GIS material to bids for new work at Costain Recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of new team members to support growth in the GIS area

Expert knowledge and practical experience with the Esri platform including ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and field applications such as Field Maps and Survey123

Have experience with FME and/or programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL) Have knowledge and practical experience of workflow automation and GIS coding (Python or Arcade) Experience with metadata and data standards IT literate with previous experience with Microsoft products e.g. Office, Azure, PowerApps, PowerBI Innovative thinking - seeks opportunities to add value through use of technology and data
