Job description

As a Lead Business Analyst, you would work across a range of multi-disciplinary scrum teams and have the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of professions including, Agile Delivery Management, Product Management, User Centred Design, Project Management, Architecture and Software Development.

We have multiple scrum teams within Companies House who develop and maintain digital services for our core service lines - Filing/Get Company Information/Intelligence and Enforcement/Common Services. Your role within these teams would be to:

  • Work within a core service line and report to the Head of Business Analysis.
  • Contribute to the agile community at Companies House.
  • Play an active role in the South Wales BA community of practice. Organise events hosted by Companies House and attend and participate in events hosted by other organisations.
  • Lead the business analysis of the projects within a service line and ensure that solutions comply with the Companies House and Digital strategy.
  • Lead the business analysis input into business improvements and service iteration as well as the resolution of live issues to ensure continuity of the service line is maintained.
  • Train and mentor other analysts within the Business Analysis profession to develop their business analysis knowledge and experience.
  • Influence stakeholders across the organisation, and act as an escalation point for business analysts and stakeholders.
  • Champion our vision, mission, strategy, goals, and values within the Business Analysis profession
  • Work within the squad in an agile setting, facilitating, and providing analysis representation during squad activities.
  • Provide advice to external partner scrums to help adherence with CH and Digital strategy.
  • Work with colleagues and contribute to business testing strategies to ensure that testing coverage is achieved across Business Improvement and project work.
  • Develop the strategies for the documentation of process and data flow models. Develop knowledge and experience of using BA tools to model enterprise level processes.
  • Create strategies around developing and storing requirements/reference material for use during/after development.
  • Work with Scrum teams, Developers, Senior BA's, BA's and Junior BA's, Architects and User centric teams to establish best technical solutions for projects/Business Improvement work. Consider changes in technology/systems and how this impacts processes within and across the service lines.
  • Develop networks and relationships with key stakeholders in business teams that make up the service lines.
  • Use your strong written and oral communication skills to clearly describe complex concepts to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Develop expert knowledge and experience of the organisation and its services to support analysis input into strategic decisions on development of the services.
  • Use Business Analysis knowledge and experience to advise and challenge portfolios of work to ensure it fits with CH and Digital strategy.

  • Be a confident communicator, able to clearly describe complex concepts to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Work with aligned professional communities.
  • Oversee senior business analysts, their role, their assignments, development and performance.

Experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has acquired the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis.Please note we cannot accept alternatives or part qualifications. **You will need to provide evidence of this, including certificate number.
  • Is proficient in using SQL and/or JSON to interrogate data and solve live issues.
  • Has experience in contributing to delivery plans to support strategic aims.
  • Has experience of working on business/service improvements.

  • Can build good relationships with business teams.
  • Has experience of discussing requirements with diverse user groups to establish deliverables.

Where will you be working?

You will be aligned to our Cardiff office, where you will be expected to attend on a regular basis. We are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work which provides opportunities for you to be adaptable in the way you work so that you can achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life. The degree of choice you have will depend on your role and your day-to-day work activities. Interview

  • Successful candidates from the sift stage will be invited to attend a virtual interview, which will conducted using Microsoft Teams.
  • We use a blended interview technique, allowing us to find out more about you.
  • We use the Success Profile framework and at interview we will use Success Profiles assessing the Experience, Behaviours and Technical Skills listed in the advert, and Strengths.
  • As part of the interview, you'll be asked to prepare a discussion topic. This will be at the beginning of the interview and details of the discussion topic will be sent to you on the day before your interview (via email). The discussion topic will detail a scenario (and some related questions) and will be assessing Behaviours: Making Effective Decisions & Communicating and Influencing.
  • After the discussion topic you'll head into the Behaviours, Technical Skills and Strengths questions.
  • A reserve list may be held for up to 12 months from which further appointments may be made for the same or similar roles.

Security

Successful candidates must pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before they can be appointed.

BPSS is an entry level security check. It uses the Police National Computer (PNC) to make sure a candidate has no convictions. The check returns evidence of any current criminal record and un-spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed.
