Job Responsibility:
Above Title Production Finance Ltd are seeking a full-time Accounts Assistant to join our finance team in delivering bookkeeping, production accounting and accountancy services to our many clients operating in theatre and live events.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated candidate with experience in delivering day-to-day bookkeeping services, who is looking to progress their career working in a busy industry and for a company with a varied and stimulating portfolio of clients.
Working week
Monday to Friday
10:00am -18:00pm
37.5 hours per week
Location
This role is predominantly remote with the exception of traveling to the office on occasion.
Wages
£6.40 per hour
rising to national minimum wage after 12 months
Qualification
Assistant accountant level 3

Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Purchase Ledger
- Raising sales invoices, matching remittances and completing credit control
- Receiving, logging and securing authorisation for purchase invoices
- Assist with checking invoices entered by other members of the team, as appropriate, and oversee processes
- Review aged creditors / aged debtors and add notes for the Accountant to review
- Reviewing and recording venue settlements
- Setting-up bank payments for authorisation
- Dealing with queries, ensuring a prompt and professional response
Reconciliations
- Completing reconciliations for bank transactions, credit cards and petty cash
- Completing reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
Payroll & Pensions
- Compiling and processing payroll, generating payslips and responding to enquiries from employees
- Filing pension contributions with pension providers and submitting schedules for payment
- Communicating with clients regarding PAYE/NIC and pension obligations
- Ensure all pension correspondence required by law is sent out in the correct timeframe
- Ensure HMRC reporting and payments are dealt with in the correct timeframe
Reporting
- Ensuring all income and expenditure is recorded correctly, particularly with reference to budgets, VAT and Theatre Tax Relief
- Review trial balances to ensure no anomalies
- Preparing financial reports
- Drafting/reviewing royalty statements, investor return calculations and VAT returns
- Sending out communications to royalty holders with back up statements
Other
- Completing work in accordance with agreed financial policies and procedures
- Setting up budgets and chart of accounts on accounting platforms for clients
- Overseeing client mail boxes ensuring all queries are addressed and performing regular archiving of emails.
- Liaising with clients and responding to queries in a timely manner
- Completing a programme of continuing professional development and maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge in areas of responsibility
- Happy to be involved in company projects to evaluate new technology to improve efficiency
- Undertaking any other duties as may be reasonably required
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent attention to detail
- Fast and accurate data inputting and checking skills
- Excellent numeracy and written/verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- An understanding of bookkeeping best practices and double-entry bookkeeping
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (and in particular Excel and Outlook)
- A working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks Online and other accountancy software packages

Education and qualifications
Maths and English at GCSE level A-C (4-9) or functional skills equivalent
