We're seeking a passionate and experienced Payroll Assistant Manager to join our vibrant Poole office. In this role, you'll be at the core of our payroll operations, ensuring seamless service delivery and making a significant impact on our clients' success.

What you'll be doing day to day

  • Act as the main point of contact for a defined portfolio of clients and manage that portfolio effectively
  • Process a wide variety of payrolls for clients
  • Set up of new client payrolls ensuring all data is clean
  • Liaise with new clients to ensure they are happy with the service
  • Undertake customer surveys and take appropriate action to make any relevant improvements to the service
  • Supervise Payroll Administrators and train/develop team members
  • Keep up to date with new legislation
  • Deal directly with relevant client queries in an efficient and timely manner
  • Liaise with HMRC around employee payments
  • Ensure day to day processing is completed on time
  • Be aware of the Business Plan and identify new business opportunities
  • Assist with preparation of pitches for new business and involvement in relevant networking and business development activities
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are updated regularly and are adhered to

About you

  • Good working knowledge of payroll legislation/pensions
  • Experience of managing a defined client portfolio effectively
  • Ability to supervise and coach staff within a busy payroll environment
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Good attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approach to work
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work independently and as part of an established team, assisting and supporting others in a proactive manner as required
  • Ability to think ‘outside the box', risk assess, and problem solve
  • Able to work to strict deadlines
  • IT literate and able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, accurate and numerate
