Job Responsibility:
The Senior Income Accountant participates in interpreting and implementing the NHS Payment Scheme rules and provides advice to directorates and senior managers of the impact of changes to tariff guidance on the Trust's clinical income. The job is also responsible for reporting on and interpreting clinical income at both a directorate and trust wide level. To be successful in this post you will be required to have excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to manage your own workload, work to tight deadlines and have a good eye for detail. You should have experience working in a complex financial environment and have excellent technical and communication skills. You will be responsible for the line management of two Band 6 Finance & Contracts accountants, and should have experience of managing and developing staff.
Please note: Job banding as AfC band 7 is provisional pending full job banding evaluation. Lead preparation of the monthly Clinical Income position in accordance with current income guidance and any local agreements. Ensuring Clinical Income is correctly accounted for each month and ensuring the correct calculation of income accruals where necessary. Lead preparation of a range of income reports to meet both month-end, year-end and ad hoc reporting requirements. Ensure that all Clinical Income due to the trust has been invoiced or paid in adherence to current guidance. This includes both contractual and non-contractual income. Build strong relationships with finance colleagues and service managers in order to ensure all Clinical Income is accurate, and any service or data changes are captured and reported as necessary. Support the implementation of new data processes in a robust manner as new guidance is published. Responsible for the supervision and management of the income team members.
