Job description
The Manchester College is based at many sites across the city, each with its own specialist cutting edge facilities within a friendly and supportive environment. We are the largest FE College in the UK providing education and training to a wide range of learners.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Student Support and Foundation Learning Department as an Emotional Health and Wellbeing Practitioner on a permanent, full time (35 hours per week) basis. You will be required to travel to all sites, with Openshaw being main campus.
The purpose of this role is to be a member of the TMC Cross-College Emotional Health and Wellbeing team, providing effective and timely wellbeing support and interventions for student in need of Emotional Health and Wellbeing support.
Emotional Health and Wellbeing practitioners will work alongside the Pastoral and Safeguarding team lead to map and develop close working relationships with a whole range of local services in their area. This is to enable an integrated community response to meet the wellbeing needs of students. This will involve working alongside all stakeholders including students and families. Emotional Health and Wellbeing practitioners will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the support offer for students.
You will work with the Director of Safeguarding and Emotional Health & Wellbeing to manage and respond to referrals. You will also be a point of contact for advice, guidance, and support for colleagues within the college.
In order to do this role, you will need:
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience or qualification in Mental Health and Wellbeing, psychology, or social sciences
- Hold Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
- Experience of working with young people with mental health problems•
- Experience of liaison with a range of agencies.
- Experience of delivering services in a community setting.
- Experience of caseload management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Skills and knowledge in using participatory young person ways of working.
- Understanding of the issues young people face and how this impact on their mental health
- Relevant of experience of IT systems such as Microsoft packages
- The ability to use assessment tools and outcome measures and in collaboration with the young person
- Experience of forming and maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with Young People and / or Vulnerable Adults.
