Job Responsibility:
To take an active role in risk assessment within special school and environment, supporting implementation of strategies to minimise risk. Ensuring incidents and near misses are reported through promoting a no blame culture. To contribute to a culture that recognises and works in partnership with patients and their families, involving them in all decisions. To provide assurance that individualised plans of care are formulated and implemented for all patients including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. To ensure early intervention is provided to support children with medical needs in school, to maintain them being healthy and happy in school. To work within the NMC Code of Professional Practice, and within policies, procedures and guidelines of Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust. To ensure that high standards of nursing care in line with national and local policy and guidance are delivered and maintained. To act accordingly when standards are not being maintained. To recognise changes in a pupils condition responding to and when the intervention of others is required and refer on as appropriate To act as an advocate for the child, young person and their family, including promoting and protecting their interests, rights, equality, inclusion and privacy. To be involved in and encourage participation in trust initiatives to improve patient safety and quality care. To ensure exemplary infection control standards are maintained in care delivery. 3.2 Professional Duties To be aware of and adhere to Trust Policies relating to the control and administration and safe storage of drugs. To organise lead and participate in regular staff mandatory and essential skills updates and communication briefings To be flexible to work within other areas or departments to meet the demands of the trust workforce model and changing service needs. To provide mentorship and preceptorship to newly qualified staff, new starters and students, encouraging an effective and supportive learning environment. To take responsibility for own continuing professional development and performance, including identifying own development needs and maintain own portfolio in accordance with revalidation requirements and mandatory and role specific requirements To ensure exemplary standards of record keeping and provide assurance that this is maintained across all grades of staff in line with the recognised digital SOPs and locally developed guidance. 3.3 Managerial Duties In accordance with the Standard Operational Policy- To support junior and senior colleagues in their roles and be resilient to manage the changing needs of the service on a daily basis and in support of wider service requirements. To manage concerns or complaints, inform the Team Leader and Clinical Nurse Manager managers and escalate when unable to resolve at local level. To participate in the investigation of incidents / complaints as required. To establish and maintain effective communication, both verbal and written and relationships with multi-disciplinary team To recognise, prevent where possible and manage areas of conflict, reporting to clinical nurse managers, and team leader if unable to resolve at local level. To assist in the completion of junior staffs appraisals and implementation of actions ongoing. Participate in research programmes utilising agreed research findings to enhance the patient and their familys experience Actively participate in benchmarking clinical practice along with other areas. Contribute to and participate in programmes of audit, including utilisation of results in practice. Participate in and support the Clinical Managers and Team Leader in improving Patient Experience, ensuring Childrens and young people and families are involved..
