We are recruiting a Power Bi Specialist at our site in Hebburn, to join us on a 2-year fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading internal engagements, providing technical leadership and delivering reporting solutions based upon the BI. This role will work closely with HCMUK's established IT department, with crossover support for L1 and the Power Platforms Team where required.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay abreast of emerging BI technologies and tools, assess their suitability for the organisation, and recommend improvements to existing BI infrastructure.
  • Lead on developing and maintaining advanced Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Support junior members on standardised and ad-hoc reports for key stakeholders and business units.
  • Design and implement data models and data warehouses to support BI initiatives.
  • Create compelling visualisations and interactive dashboards that communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leading the design and development of advanced Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Troubleshooting and optimising Power BI solutions.
  • Establish L1-3 support model through thorough documentation, process, and policy implementation.
  • Create affective monitoring processes to monitor the performance of BI solutions and dashboards.
  • Implement data quality checks processes and ensure adherence to data governance and security standards.
  • Conduct ongoing trend analysis and forecasting.
  • Support digital transformation projects.
  • Mentoring and coaching team junior members to establish effective L1-3 support model.
  • Develop and oversee delivery of end-user training to assist in understanding BI reports.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEssential

  • 3 - 5+ years of experience as a Power BI developer with excellent track record.
  • Extensive experience in developing and optimising complex Power BI solutions.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable data models.
  • In-depth knowledge of data integration techniques and tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of DAX calculations and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data warehouse concepts including Azure Synapse.
  • Expertise in performance tuning and optimisation of Power BI reports and SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics and machine learning concepts for enhanced data insights.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Be approachable and have excellent communication skills.
  • Able to easily adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Understanding of financial data and reports.

Preferred

  • Certifications in Power BI.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration and automation.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and deliver results.

Why Should You Apply?As the business grows, so does the appetite for IS solutions and HCMUK are now able to create an IS Solutions Team, which will look at ways to automate tasks, remove human error and integrate data across other applications & services, including reporting, powered by BI.

This role will report to the IT Manager, however, the initial settling in period will be in finance, as this is where our focus and attention will be needed. You will be responsible for leading internal engagements, provide technical leadership and deliver reporting solutions based upon the BI. You will work closely with the establish IT department with cross-over support for L1 and establish good communications to support the Power Platforms Team when needed.

Developing the current BI function, improving reporting and knowledge within the business and the team will be large part of the role, as duties will eventually be absorbed into the IS function.

The position would ideally suit someone who has been operating as a BI Specialist, and is looking for a new rewarding venture, and able to share their skills & knowledge to keen junior members of the team!

Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
