Job Description

We'd all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That's waiting for you at Sainsbury's. As the link between sellers and buyers, retail and head office, our retail operations team is the cog that keeps things running. With teams focused on store facing, labour, transformation, online, delivery and contact centre work, we touch almost every part of the business. It's an incredibly fast-paced environment where you need to pivot not just daily, but often hourly. So while we plan all we can, it's vital that we all think outside our job descriptions and look to optimise and improve how we do everything. There's also a real team ethos. After all, it's people like you who are going to truly transform this part of the business.
  • Please note this role will vary in locations, predominantly being Holborn Store Support Centre alongside the ability to work from home, and at times will require visiting our Supermarket and Convenience stores across the country, so methods of travel will need to be considered.
At Sainsbury's we believe that the customer should be at the heart of everything we do which is why we are defining the future shopping experience of our Supermarkets and Convenience estate through ‘Mission Based Stores,' led by the Director of Future Stores (DoFS) and in collaboration with the wider organisation. As Project Manager to the Director of Future Stores, you will be a dynamic and organised individual who will play a pivotal role in providing a professional, pro-active, and comprehensive administration support to the Director. This role will also include project-based activities centred around our future role of stores programme and will involve collaboration across cross-functional teams. You will have a strong retail background and an in-depth understanding of retail and operational processes. This role will require strengths in relationship building and engagement with stakeholders to operating board level. You will be required to gather and analyse information with the ability to create presentations and reports on behalf of the DoFS to inform board level decisions in shaping the future of retail. What you need to do

Manage the Directors complex calendar, scheduling appointments, meeting, and travel arrangements ensuring effective use of time.

Manage and prioritise high level correspondence, screening emails and calls and drafting responses on behalf of the director ensuring timely and accurate responses provided to stakeholders at all levels.

Organise and coordinate meetings including preparing agendas, compiling meeting materials and recording minutes

Prepare and edit documents, reports, presentations, and other communications for internal and external audiences.

In collaboration with Retail Transformation teams establish project plans, define project scope, and secure the necessary resources for each project you are responsible for, managing risks and identifying issues.

Co-ordinate and engage with cross-functional teams, facilitating communication and collaboration to ensure project alignment and progress.

Monitor retail projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all deliverables are met within scope, time, and budget.

Analyse reports and data, producing insight and transitioning this to actionable intelligence for DoFS and Mission Based Stores team.

What you need to know and show

You will have a good understanding of retail and operational processes and role model store and customer store closeness.

Experienced in administration and have had some exposure to project management.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 skills to include Outlook, Word, OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

Curiosity to investigate, analyse and create insight from large amounts of disparate and often complex information and report back findings, simplifying messages to deliver clear and concise verbal and written communications

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of interacting with stakeholders at all levels including operating board daily.

Ability to work independently and proactively. Organising, prioritising and managing workload to agreed timescales.

Experience with and strong skills in analysing and managing data and reports with the ability to read and analyse financial, operational, and customer reports/data and provide insight and suggestive actions/outputs.

Capable of working under pressure, managing tight deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities and challenges in a fast-paced retail environment.

We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer so you'll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there's always the chance to try something new — whether that's as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we'll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them: Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to save 10% on your shopping online and instore at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat, and we regularly increase the discount to 15% at points during the year. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 10% of salary, depending on how we perform. Your wellbeing is important to us too. You'll receive an annual holiday allowance and you can buy up to an additional week's holiday. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an employee assistance programme. Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks' pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks' pay for paternity leave.
