Job Responsibility:
Job Title: Clerical Officer
Location: Sunderland Royal Hospital, SR4 7TP
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Trust Location: South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
What you'll be responsible for:
· The post holder will undertake general reception duties along with other administrative support, required for the day to day running of the Therapy Service Departments.
· The post holder will be expected to rotate between varying reception areas across the Trust.
· You will also be responsible for dealing with enquiries from Clerical and Secretarial staff, Medical and Nursing staff, other Trust personnel and general enquiries from patients and members of the public both face to face and over the phone.
· Use effective communication skills when dealing with patient changes of appointment
· To support written communication to patients
· Resolve routine telephone enquiries from members of the public, staff etc., take messages and re-direct callers.
You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation
You'll have the following skills/experience:
· At least 12 months' work experience in an office environment or NVQ level 2 in business administration
· Evidence of a good standard of Education in numeracy and literacy at minimum GCSE C grade or equivalent
· Good working knowledge of e-mail and Microsoft packages
· Good oral, written and interpersonal skills for both reception work and answering telephone queries
· Standard keyboard/typing skills
