Job Responsibility:

· Responsible for managing and implementing the VAR programme in Scottish football. · To continually review and improve the processes and implementation of VAR in Scottish football. · To play a lead role in training, instruction, coaching, appointing and match performance/evaluation of VAR and AVARs. · To play a pivotal role in all VAR-related stakeholder engagements, and in the advocacy of Video Match Officials utilised in Scottish FA serviced competitions. · To work closely with relevant partners to improve VAR technology and its use in Scottish football. · To provide a high level of coaching and guidance to match officials. · To work closely with referee observers and oversee the assessment of VAR/AVAR performances using appropriate criteria. · The VAR Manager will attend the VAR Hub, often assuming the role of VAR Command, to observe Video Match Official activities and provide feedback as required. They will be responsible for overseeing the key matchday functions within the Video Operation Room (VOR).

Key Responsibilities

· Manage all aspects of VAR delivery by the Scottish FA in the competitions it serves which utilise VAR technology. · Develop and deliver training programs to facilitate certification of new VARs and AVARs, and re-certification of existing VARs and AVARs. · Deliver ongoing bespoke development programs/training sessions for VARs and AVARs. · Provide Scottish FA representation on VAR-related stakeholder working groups and other such forums. · Assess the performance of all VARs and AVARs for every match round through personal attendance at the VAR Hub or through analysis of captured footage and provide appropriate feedback. · Utilise Video Match Official performance metrics to record and track performance levels. Regularly reviewing such metrics to ensure ongoing relevance. · Represent the Scottish FA to enhance relationships and collaboration with VAR partners, such as the SPFL, Hawkeye, QTV and relevant broadcasters. · Provide regular updates to SPFL clubs, members of the media and partners on all aspects of VAR. · Produce periodic performance reports relating to the Scottish FA's VAR performance. · To work closely with the Assistant Manager (VAR Administration) on all matters related to VAR, including budget management. To undertake all other duties as directed by the Head of Refereeing.
