The role

Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join our People Department as a People Insights and Performance Partner.

To support with fulfilling the Force's performance objectives, you will use your skills and knowledge of analytical tools and strategies to translate data into business insights, providing specialist and professional guidance. You'll contribute to further build analytical capability; enabling accurate, timely provision and analysis of all aspects of people metrics for capacity and capability, including: workforce planning, resource forecasting, training, workforce composition and deployment in order to meet current and future demand.

As the successful candidate you will have an integral role in driving the development and transformation of complex data into innovative and meaningful insights that support organisational change, evidence-based decision making, accountability and force governance. Working as a member of an analytical team, you will draw upon your ability to develop insights that create a better understanding of the DNA of our workforce, improve visibly and promote efficiencies to enhance our performance forcewide.

What you'll do

  • You will support force governance by designing, coordinating and producing dynamic and bespoke people insights packs to support working groups, committees and boards.
  • You will analyse and interpret people metrics to provide understanding that will support decision making. This will include the production, analysis and dissemination of people metrics to identify areas of concern, adverse trends and issues that may impact the force.
  • You will provide professional advice and guidance to our senior leadership team, utilising statistical and research methods to identify opportunities for improving organisational effectiveness, process and cost efficiency.
  • Through strong working relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external, you will work with them to support development and delivery of force objectives. This will include presenting results of analysis appropriate to a range of audiences, adapting communication styles to ensure efficiency. Collaborating with our workforce planning and system analysts, you will extract, manipulate and interrogate data to obtain insight, and build, validate and test analytical models. You will also help support these colleagues with professional development. Develop and maintain a quality assurance framework for data, ensuring strategic and local people decisions are based on robust, accurate and reliable data.
  • You will keep up to date with the latest research and techniques for business analytics to ensure the force is able to implement and achieve the most effective force research and analysis.

What you'll bring

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 package of programmes including Power BI, Forms, Planner, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Proficient in managing multiple work streams simultaneously, prioritising as required to achieve maximum output.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, capable of working together with HR professionals and upper management. You will develop an extensive knowledge of multiple business areas to provide the highest quality advice and consultancy.
  • You will possess a comprehensive knowledge of data analysis techniques, tools and software, enabling you to produce various statistical models, metrics, and KPIs.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, enabling you to conduct research and effectively analyse the data. Consequently, you will be able to resolve data issues and other barriers to progress through critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
