Waste and Environment Planning Officer

Job description Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service (GCSWS) are looking for a Waste and Environment Planning officer to join our busy and friendly team delivering high-quality and environmentally focussed services. The post will work alongside both waste management, street cleansing and watercourse colleagues acting as primary point of contact for all matters relating to planning consultations and new developments. Greater Cambridge is one of the fastest housing growth areas in the UK with continued significant growth. The impact on GCSWS is substantial. The chosen candidate will have a important role in developing the planning policy approach for the service and ensure the revenues from developers are received and, crucially, ensuring excellent waste management facilities are provided for our new residents from the start of occupation. To succeed in this role, you will need to be well organised with very good attention to detail and be diplomatic but confident communicator. You will be expected to be comfortable working with all levels of colleagues and representing the service at external meetings and site visits as required. The contracted hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We are currently taking part in a 4 day working week (32 hours per week) to improve recruitment and retention and support the wellbeing of our colleagues.
